OK, its Friday. You've had a killer stressful week at work.
What Rock to listen too between leaving work and Pub to wash it all away?

My plan is Highway to Hell (the album), the right balance of Rock and up tempo-ness but without the angry lyrics that might potentially make me more angry than I am at the moment, if that is even possible :)

Powerage is a good AC/DC album to unwind on. Nice tempo, bluesy and nice to sing along to.

Sometimes, when I've had one of those days, I just crank out some Slipknot and stuff like that or RATM and just let it all out.

Don't play any Alice In Chains or Nirvana, you'll just get depressed and maybe even suicidal.

RATM is good, but personally I'd go for Muse, Quireboys or Buckcherry

I kick in some thrash or death usually
(Testament, Legion Of The Damned, Kreator, Exodus, Kalmah etc...)

or on the otherside of the spectre I listen to extremely relaxing music, mostly post-rock or reggae
(Sigur Rós, God Is An Astronaut, Red Sparowes, Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, UB40 etc...)

rarely listen to anything in between at those kind of days, mostly the extreme sides of both :P

I always like lifting to uplifting stuff when I am in that kind of stuff, high energy, uplifting and also agressive at the same time. For example, Electric Six.

Totally agree, Powerage is a great pre-pub album, but it's even better when your drunk!

I didn't even make it to the pub :(
Ended up on a support call till 12:30am. Fortunately I hadn't started drinking (much) when called in ... unlike my manager who was trying to get another slightly worse for wear manager to make dinosaur noises down the phone on the conference call ("Go on Dom, do a Jurrasic park" was heard in the background) :D :D :D

So anyway I unwound this morning by playing most of Powerage. In fact any AC/DC really does it for me 'cos I freakin love those guys 8) The ultimate pre-pub band really (and also down-pub if you can find one that has 'em on the jukebox).

I work for www.betfair.com ... where problems with web site = lost money as all the revenue is generated through the site. Just spent another 2 hours on the phone sorting things out ... :x

Do get a call out fee though :lol:
which interstingly enough is addidng up this weekend to around about the price of a new BKP ... so not all bad so far!

Back in Black good, Shoot To Thrill is probably my fave song of all time, and ALWAYS cheers me up :)

Yeh, when I'm in that kinda mood, 'relaxing' music just frustrates me. System of a Down and Testament is usually what I go for.

Bands I can listen to at ANY time and it will make me smile and nod my head like a nodding dog - REALLY changes my moods sometimes :P

meshuggah!!!

it just makes you try and figure out the timings of each of the riffs, while you nod along to the beat of the cymbals (they're mainly played as a regular beat, while the guitars and bass drum/snare play an irregular beat, it's very interesting...) which makes you forget about the rest of the world :P

but also, Opeth, because their music is brutal, intricate, epic, progressive, beautiful, and EVIL in places!
great music that takes you away to places in your mind and again, makes you forget about the rest of the world
