My BKP collection - group pic for you!
« on: May 06, 2007, 05:10:51 PM »
I've finally got round to getting a group pic of the BKP'd guitars now my Gordon Smith is back from having a setup.  May I present them to you all:

From left to right:

1)  Gordon Smith SG-1 in Cherry Red with a coil-tapped chrome Mississippi Queen.  My "SG Junior".
2)  Gibson Les Paul Standard in Heritage Cherry Sunburst with unpotted zebra Mules.  Modded to '58 Les Paul Standard spec with amber top hat knobs, amber switch tip, blank truss rod cover, Hovland MusiCaps, CTS pots and 50s spec wiring.
3)  Epiphone '65 reissue SG in Cherry Red with chrome Riff Raffs.  Modded to a more accurate '65 SG spec with black screws, dial pointers, Hovland MusiCaps and CTS pots with 60s spec wiring.  Also has a Tusq nut and a TonePros bridge.

Just need some Stormy Mondays for the '61 reissue Gibson SG now...

Those all look amazing

What difference does the fact that the mules are unpotted make?

That Epi SG looks very close to the 'so called' Gibson Angus Young Signature SG. Lovely!

Cheers!  They're a bit more "lively and raw" rather than "smooth and refined".

Cheers Tom!  It was a wedding present from my wife.  I think it was about £450.

Nice!  Just looking at those, they are of course all Gibson types.  Never been tempted to put BKPs in any of your Ibanezes (Ibanezez?) etc Dave?

Yep you guys are right - the RGs are staying original for colection purposes.  Some of them have a few tweaks already but I'm keeping them as they are.

I have a few Fender types too but I'm happy with them as they are as well.  Gibson/Epiphone pickups seem to be of a lesser standard than Fender and Ibanez in my experience.
