So, is the Les Paul Vixen, the Les Paul Jr for women?

Just wondering, how do you feel about guitars being "aimed" at women, Sailor Charon?  Is it a good idea?  Are "prettier" colours and skinnier necks an attraction for you?

I think the LP Vixen looks great, I like the colours too (they had a limited run of SG-Xs in those colours 7 or 8 years ago).  It's very much like a Junior, lightweight and simple.  I'd buy one in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the narrow nut and slim-taper neck.

The few female guitar players I know (literally, like 3) are all offended by them... especially when Daisy Rock come in with their noncey flowery efforts.

Out of the three, one plays a Tele, one plays a Strat and the other dons a manly SG.

Well... I like the necks. But 60's necks in general aren't bad... They tend to cut the weight as well, which is handy in some ways. Having said that Les Pauls aren't as heavy as I expected them to be.
As to the colours, well, the Goddess colours are nice. Not sure about the Coral Vixen, mind you. And some of the Daisy Rock guitars are just too pink. [And Gibson's Fireburst is nice too...]

Gibson would be better off just aiming the guitar at any players who want a lighter instrument in this classic shape with a slim neck.

there are plenty of guys who have small hands or are not keen on having a heavy lump of a guitar hung round their necks.

And maybe a lot of girl players may be attracted to those features and would chose it as the best option, but they don't want to feel patronised or be specially catered for (almost suggesting that they are not as capable as blokes)

i agree with feline . . .   lets just have guitars in all shapes, sizes and colours and let individuals decide what they want!!  

I think its funny that the LP vixen comes in pink (OK,  coral) and baby blue, very unusual colours for gibbo's and a definate attempt to appeal to females.  I think these colour choices will mean you will be able to pick these guitars up for very cheap prices soon - maybe then its worth getting one to re-spray!!

the smaller size and weight will suit so many other players that want the LP look without the downsides.

I suppose the BFG is a real mans guitar!!  (marketing wise anyway, even that is chambered to reduce weight!!)
