what bareknuckles to get
« on: July 16, 2005, 05:57:38 PM »
I'm having a custom built Ran guitar from Poland built when I get the cash it will take 5 months to build and I chose EMG 81s for it even though I own the ZW set I'm not a huge fan of the EMGs maybe mine just are messed up. Umm Well Ill use the EMGs for a while until I can order some None blacker Bareknuckles but I dont know which to get I think my good friend from Wales told me to get the Warpig bridge and Mule neck cause he has quite a few Bareknuckles but I cant ask him cause he was in a bad accident a while back. So I'm asking you guys I'm a death metal guitarist and I want them to have an awesome tone when they are distorted and harmonics are definately up there with pinched harmonics and dimebag style dive bombs.

I think you'll do fine with a calibrated set of Warpigs.

Check some of the clips.

I agree with Ratrod, the Warpig would do what you want, it is the same output wise as an EMG81 but with all the benefits of a passive hand wound pickup. You will get far more detail and a bigger sound from it than your EMG's which can sound quite artificial and sterile.
Pinched harmonics seem to jump off of the fret board with the warpig and dive bombs won’t be a problem.

Well I want some bass but not too much I mean its good for just jamming but with a band its uneccessary, so quite a bit of bass but more treble than anything and mids slightly less. But it doesnt really matter cause I can adjust my amp accordingly.

I think the Miracle Man would be more to your taste than the Warpig.

After looking at your gear, you seem to be a Dimebag fan! Again as Ratrod suggested the Miracle man would be good for that. Another one to look at is the Nailbomb, which is more versatile and cleans up better.
Have you listened the clips in the player’s room? If so which ones do you like/dislike?

I know it's not a metal pickup but my Mule kicks ass for metal aswell as anything else I play! Pinch harmonics come with no effort!

The Mule is a good pickup but It wont do what he wants, the High gain range of pickups we do would suite his playing style better.

All of our pickups are available in calibrated sets, which mean that each pickup has a neck that is especially designed to work with the bridge pickup.
In the case of the Warpig the neck has a DC of 18K and an alnico V magnet.

Are you kidding? Im getting a custom ran from Poland too! Im getting a mahagony/maple Flying V with Floyd Rose and am probably going to drop a calibrated set of ceramic Warpigs in it!

I want the Architects tone (off With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness), though I also like the Terminal Spirit Disease tone!, and Im pretty sure these babies can do it (Yeah the big ATG fan up there knows what I want =] ).

My tone already does it pretty good (EMGs 81 in Basswood with a XXX Combo), but I want something less sterile. Sorry, I dont like EMG's. I love the clarity but there is something about passives that grab me.

The Ceramic is better for this then Alinco, correct?

Edit: The Break of Autumn by At The Gates. The Tone is to die for.
