Be careful in Coventry mate, they're a right bunch of knuckledraggers.  I'm sitting next to one of them now eho has more than a passing resemblance to Chuck Norris.

Been in a few scr@pes there, my old stomping ground is Rugby, just up the road (although I probably live closer now   )
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

isn't there some kind of saying/proverb about being "sent to coventry"? maybe i'm confusing that with omagh (rob'll get that one!)...

no idea, just came to me.

anyway, good luck sam... try everything you can get your hands on, etc., etc. the usual advice.

well if they're all like that, then i really do need to be careful!...

should be alright... as soon as the car stops i'll leg it into the shop with minimal time spent in the open streets (where im vulnerable to a roundhouse kick).

cheers for the warning though    :)

and cheers dave- hopefully i'll make a day of it and get to play a decent amount of different stuff.

i think your about the Coventry saying as well... im sure i've heard that before somewhere...

Being sent to Coventry means that no one is talking to you...........

............This is as opposed to being from Coventry, which means that people might be speaking to you, you just can't understand it without the grunts

Good luck with the Eggle.  It may be workth having a natter over at the Patrick Eggle forum.  They only really talk about the guitars when Mr Eggle himself was still there.  I heard (no experience) that the quality of them went down a bit when they were taken over by Tilley's.  I think if you get a new one now, the quality has gone up again.

i think its gorgeous!!!

its a quirky-looking les paul... lovely.

i didnt make it to coventry   my dad (without telling me in advance), has gone to dorset to see his mum for the week...

grrrrrr!!!!

but i had some playing sessions in machinehead and Coda...  which have added to the mental picture of what i want.

if i hadnt been stung by blind-purchases in the past, i would probably buy that Austin to be honest... i love it.  but im too scared to take the risk.

if it doesnt sell, AGAIN... i'll trrrrrry and get to the shop to play it (but anything above 10 miles is SO difficult for me  )

i need to experience eggle for myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

everything but the Fernandes and Jackson sold... so hopefully after re-listing them, and selling some other stuff as well... im aiming for a target of £1400/1500... and im leaning towards going custom now...

ive been speaking a lot with Bob from Legra, and we're slowly forming a clearer picture of my dream guitar.

pretty much... i wont get the money in time basically.

and im trying to be as adult as i can about this... and think everything through and not rush anything..

i DONT want a trem... and a test in the shop was fine with the PRS, but i know after a while it would get to me... which i dont want a £1000 guitar to do...

im not a fan of maple necks either... so im going by the logic that if im prepared to spend that much on a guitar in the first place, i might as well get the right one...

i cant believe im only a teenager!!?!?! i should be getting cheap Ibanez' RG's because they're 'cool'.... not looking at PRS-league guitars...

maybe i'll get the austin and spend the rest on another amp.... or a car... i need a car.

EDIT: Machinehead have one of the same PRS', so i got to give the same thing a test... its close to perfect.... but not quite.

im too much of a perfectionist.

second EDIT: im still not decided on anything.... im still going to TRY and get to coventry and maybe wembley guitar centre thing in the next few months.... it may be i settle on a random guitar i havent even considered, i might end up getting the PRS, i might go custom, i might get an Eggle...

i just dont know really at the moment...

my brain hurts, i need to sleep.

Resent much.

My RGT costs £600 new and it easily sits next to my £1300 Viper.

lol well i did say cheap ones... and £600 isn't cheap in my books...

and Joe- yer it seems a bit crazy doesnt it... its not like i just magic money out of nowhere... for every birthday and christmas for the last four or so years, and with every bit of money i've made from paper rounds and other bits and bobs, i've always bought or saved for something guitar-related.... so im always selling stuff to move up a notch...  and now, by selling pretty much all the items i have and never use... (not just guitar-related either- i just sold my bike recently)... i'll probably have just enough...

but as i said, i'm not set on anything yet... i might decide that its too much money to warrant spending, and just go for an Eggle or a low-end PRS.... i really dont know!

It's Korean built, so I'd class it as a "Cheap Ibanez".
