Chrome BKP-92

Well... I just got my pair of chrome BKP-92's... And they look absolutely GORGEOUS. I'm considering buying a set for myself in the future... (Sadly, they aren't for me, but a replica I've been asked to build for someone).

I was a little surprised that the covers were plastic, but I've been told almost all chrome P90 covers are. I didn't know where to put this exactly... There is a note on my order that says"

"I've wired up so black/screen are ground ------ white :-) ----- of the coils"

No offense to Tim (Or whoever wrote this). But I cant quite read what I have put as blanks... Can anyone help? I don't want to bug Tim with another email (I heard he gets hundreds a day). Might as well see if anyone has gotten a similar note.

So how different do these sound compared to a Mississippi Queen?

It looks to me as though it says 'ground/start' and then 'white is finish of the coils' but I don't see how that would make sence so I'm probably wrong. You're probably just best contacting Tim, I'm sure he won't mind.

Agree with TomW, it says "I've wired up so black/screen are ground/start, white is finish of the coils".

Does the cable have 2 wires plus a shielding wire?  I would have expected a single conductor plus a braided shield.  Unless there's a wire to ground the chromed cover itself?

or there might be a possibility to tap them - I think sambo has that on his P90 ... which is for sale along with the Gibo LP Jun.

Yes, there are 3 wires.

A "screen" wire, black, and white.

and I dont think its to ground the chrome, since it's a plastic cover...

Then assuming it's not tapped, I think that means you could use either black or white as ground and wire the two pickups out of phase if you wanted.

True, but the chroming itself must be metallic - so if it came into contact with metal parts of the pickup it would need grounding.  But I guess it's only chromed on the front?

thanks for all the plugging man!  :D  sold it by the way, for a pretty cruddy price- on evilbay.

anyway- i would agree with what someone said before-

to save any hassle (which is exactly what i got- as i was in the same position as you), it's probably best to in contact with BKP. you wouldnt even have to actually disturb tim at all... just give the company a ring...

me trying to do it myself and getting it wrong cost me £40 in the end.
