« on: May 27, 2007, 09:10:09 PM »
HI Guys and Gals!As some of you know ,i am getting an Ibby 1527 and want to change the Bridge PU (i don't care for the Neck.I never use it).

So i am going to order a MM 7 next week ,but i want to be %100 shure before i do it!
What are your opinions?Anyone uses it on a 7 with Basswood body and 5 piece maple/rosewood neck?

BTW ,i play mostly metal ,with lot's of Harmonics ,punch and some speed riffing!
And no ,i don't like the Nailbomb 7 hahah;)

Thanx alot!
Cheers!

Well i don't have a MM 7 but i have had a MM and they rock great for all kinds of metal and screaming harmonics.
I'd say you can't go wrong with that in a basswood Ibanez.

When I PM'd TwilightOdyssey about a pickup for my basswood charvel, heres what he said about the MM-

"I've said this before, and I will say it again. If you only have ONE metal guitar in your possession, it should have the MM in it. It's the first and only word in metal pickups. I don't find it to be scooped at all, and you know I don't go for that kind of tone, since you've heard my CD.

The MM will push your amp hard, but I don't think it will get messy. However, you might want to use just your amp's gain instead of using any kind of boost/OD in front of your amp.

Now, for the cons ... In basswood, there might be too much low frequency energy. You can try to EQ them out, but it may make the guitar sound muddy, tubby, or indistinct for riffing. The MM was designed with a certain amount of mass in mind, and a basswood super strat weighs practically nothing. You might find it has too much boom and sizzle, in other words, in the Charvel."

I had the Miracle Man in a Mahogany ESP and a Ash Strat for some time and it really "burns".. it's got a huge sound with plenty of singing lower mids, the higher mids are there but they're slightly scooped although not massively..

I personally think it'd work fine in a 7 String Basswood Design.

Okay ,seem like it could work.I think i am going to use it with a 1Meg pot!So the "possibly scooped" high mids can be more present.
Thanx alot!
