First gig with a set of Painkillers!
« on: June 02, 2007, 10:56:35 AM »
Hi.

Last night we had a gig and for the first time I was able to use my Painkiller equipped Vigier Supra........
The tone from these things are simply amazing, very focused and tight like hell. Just simply perfect for what we do ( www.queenstonerocks.com ).
The mid frequency push is something really amazing, usable and musical.
No mud here! No flabby bass-shitee that totally destroys the focus of your sound! The highs are highs and not buzzy, shrill, icepick in your ear fizz! I could go on forever about this mid push thing and how great it is, for me thats the thing with the Painkillers, the mids. And IMHO
thats the by far most important slice of frequencies in the metal guitar sound (probably in any guitar sound), I'm thinking of sounds like older Testament and that type of sounds. Very cool.

My backup was a Vigier Special with Miracle Man set, that I didn't have to use since there were no problems with the Supra.......

Other gear:
Diezel VH4 head, very nice, channel 3 for everything.
Self made 4x12 cab weighing around 74982 kg  :) , loaded with eminence gov'nors (I think I'm going to change them for something else from eminence, maybe the blue tick hound).
Crybaby Wah, and a boss stompbox tuner.
EQ to be added shortly.
Thats all, simple is good I guess.

In other words, if you want a chugging experience with unbelievable tightness, definition and attitude get the PAINKILLERS.

Nice review, nice gear, and nice band!

I'm going to do a Painkiller set soon in a super strat type thing.

Expect a couple of myspace add requests from me and my band! (You can hear my recent BK recordings at www.myspace.com/killabnyc)
