Mr. Morello, what have you done?
« on: June 09, 2007, 04:29:18 PM »
I watched Jools Holland last night and Tom Morello was on it as the 'nightw@tchman'.  I wish I could un-watch the program now beacause IMHO he was embarassingly bad. Really truly awful lyrics whilst strumming away on an acoustic and interspersed with a bit of harmonica. What happened to the killer riffage and sounds-you-didn't-think-a-guitar-could-make? Another hero brought down to mortal status ... sigh.

On the plus side Bjork was also on the show and I love her :)

now, don't take this the wrong way 99, but I never thought of you as a Bjork fan!

Heh, Bjork's great. Always inventive musically and visually, superb live and genuinely unique! Great music to relax too (as long as you ignore that annoying 'its oh so quiet ...' song on Post from a few years back). Plus she's not bad looking either :)

Still in shock over Tom Morello though.

Haha, i didn't realise that was Morello! I'm not such a fan of his anyways, but that stuff just wasn't him. That other band that had just drums and keys+vocals were pretty good though, i must check them out.

I caught about the 1st 20minutes of that program and said to my girlfriend as the camera pans around the guests: 'Was that Tom Morello? That looked like Tom Morello'

She had no idea who I was talking about, but atleast I was right :D

I thought Morello and Bjork were both cr4p!  Mind you, neither are my kind of music.

Nice to see Sir Paul McCartney with his lefty 1959 Gibson Les Paul though - they only made one that year  :o

didn't get to see Morello but my brother said he was pretty poor.  I saw the last song Bjork did (declare independance) and it was great - her new album is spot on.

The point of the Nightw@tchman is that it's political protest but in a more traditional vein.  He can get to people and put his views across much easier with an acoustic than with some crazy killswitching, feedback and noise manipulation- as evidenced by the fact that he was even on the Jools Holland show.

To be honest, I haven't heard any of his Nightw@tchman stuff, but I think he's a brilliant guy and I have nothing but respect for him. ^_^
