It's one of those words I've only ever seen written, and I sort of pronounce it in my head, but have no idea how it is supposed to be said...

Any suggestions?

I say al-nick-oh. After all, it's "ni" as in "nickel".

and pronounces it al-kin-oh

its annoying as hell lol

just point out what it stands for ALuminium - NIckel - CObalt, that should make the pronunciation fairly obvious

I once knew someone that insisted on pronoucing Ibanez (I-Ban-ez) as Ib-an-ey. that really used to annoy me!!

Whilst we're on the subject, how is Charvel meant to be pronounced? sharvle, or sharvelle? I assume the Ch is pronounced Sh but I dont really konw :lol:

With regards to Ibanez - the company got its name from Salvador Ibáñez - who was a Spanish classical guitar maker - so it should be pronouced Iban-eth (but its not).

I don't see why, because it indeed isn't al-nee-koh ;) (though it is is closer than his pronnounciation) but then I am pedantic at times.

Here's another one: is Hamer pronounced "hammer" or "hay-mer"?

I've always said "hammer" but most people seem to say "hay-mer", and I read somewhere that that's the correct pronunciation. But if that's the case, why did they have Hamer-lock tuners and the Hamer Slammer line?
