Very nice indeed. I see 1970's Strats maligned all the time but find a good one and they are as good as any other era Strats. Mine is a 76 and with Apaches installed is a veritable tone beast.

NICE! I never used to like the big 70s style strat headstock but I think its grown on me, and that creamy white with a rosewood board is my favourite colour scheme on a strat :D

The only concern I have about 70's Strats is that 3-bolt neckplate. I hear baaaaaaaaaad things.

I was kind of with you about the 3 bolt thing until i took the neck off earlier today. . the bottom bolt is exactly that. . a BOLT going into metal. . its solid as hell!

Pickups are a Kinman blues set. . probably swearing here but i actually quite like them.

The 3 bolt idea was a good idea implemented poorly. In other words it was harder to get them set up and playing correct with the "shim method" of neck adjustment. As most are aware this wasnt a great period for Fenders QC so consequently there are a lot of bad reputations about this era. I for one (aside from the headstock shape) like the 70's strats.

As for the pickups.... shame they arent original, but hey their Aussie made so I'll let ya slide on that one.

If it works, then sweet! I must admit, I find 70's ones have a certain charm about them - that headstock just makes them look a little bit different because practically everyone else you see with a Strat has the standard 50's one on.

I go through phases of alternately liking the big headstocks and hating them.  Right now I think they look very cool.  And I've always loved that bold black lettering for the logos.

It would look great with black covers and knobs, for a Ritchie Blackmore vibe!

Yep, I'm exactly the same with the 70s headstocks! If I get a new strat neck (still deciding if I like my maple ones radius or not   ) I'll probably get it with the 70s one, maybe a rosewood board as well, because you can only get vintage tinted maple ones in 7.25" radius.

Really!!!!??  I played a 7.25 and thought, wow how does someone play this thing.

Then again I bought a bass recently and actually like it better than any of my six stringers as of late..... I'm probably not a good yardstick for cool at the moment
