If I was running a GH100L or a GH100TI into a 2x12 cab, which speakers would you recommend?

I play lots of Ozzy (Jake Era), Badlands, Free, Sabbath, Zep, AC/DC etc

Mainly hot blues (Badlands)/80's metal but I love the other bands.

Cheers

One thing that you need to remember is that your speaker choice for a 2x12 will be limited because it'll have to handle 100W for GH100. That rules out Greenbacks and G12H30s. Why 100W? GH50L is silly loud. There is someone on HC selling one for £240 shipped btw.

I should be getting 2x vintage30s and 2x G12H30s in my Laney 4x12 so I'll be able to tell you how that sounds with my Laney when I get them.

To be safe you should more try to get a cab which handles 120-150Watts.

I swear by Eminence speakers. I've had 3 so far and I love them.

A pair of Vintage 30s will work well, but they will only sound best when your amp is cranked

Because the Iommi  head is only available in 100w form but I was thinking of pulling two valves.. was checking options for 100w cos i know what I`d get for 50 :P

Electro Voice EVM12L classics look hot but too pricey :(

the ev's arent for everyone..if you are used to speaker breakup, aint gonna happen with ev's-they are bright and tight-I havent played with other amps, but they are perfect for Mesa Mark series amps..I have a mark IIC+ Coliseum(300 watts) and my ev's are the only way to go-some people do not like them because they claim they are sterile sounding...they are all at least 200 watts..some 300-if your technique isnt quite there,it will expose..but,IMO, it can only make you better....ps-some HEAVY MOFO's as well, but good exercise
-luv my ev's...have a thiele cab loaded with ev and a 4x12 with ev's in bottom/c90 in top-tight mojo!

V30s  or Eminence Governor for the classic modern metal sounds.

Eminence Wizard if you want to open the sound up (bigger sound), it's a Cel h30 clone with increased wattage (75watts).

...as long as you crank them.  At lower volumes they are a bit brittle and shrill sounding.

Awesome with a cranked 100w Laney Klipp though

Anyone who doesn't crank it... well frankly I don't want to know them!

Wait, "crank it" sounds a bit rude... ah well.

Stay well clear of the seriously over rated V30s..

I'd personally go with the Eminence Private Jacks for this application, or if you want a bit more of a big growly bottom end the Eminence Governors.

The V30s have a very peaky higher mid range which is really hard to tame, listen to the "metal" clips on the celestion site compared to say the G12H30s.. the V30s are quite dark with a rolled off true high end and a huge bass but the relaxed lower mids and upper mid spike really aren't my thing.. Can sound very brittle with EL34 loaded amps.

The G12H30 is my favourite speaker, as Tom well knows and he also uses these speakers for very similar music. But they won't handle the wattage of a 100watt head.

G12H is great, I havent tried many others, but the G12H sounds perfect and I see no need to change.. I also see no point in the 100w GH head really, I'm sure it wont sound that much different and you'll be pulling 2 tubes anyway so is it really worth the extra hassle?
