The band (http://www.myspace.com/musicofillusion) are playing a battle of the bands next saturday (at the Kettering Lesure Center) with a load of other bands. The grand prize is playing at the Rockingham Speedway NASCAR track in front of a lot of people - great for promotion.

Now, we are a good live band, pretty tight and we put on a good show - any ideas of what we can do to take it to the next level and REALLY stand out?

Can't really help with your question, but I'm really liking the music you've got on your myspace page...

Based in kettering I see - not much hope of me getting up to see you play (I'm in sussex) although I'm going to uni of Warwick (actually nearer coventry) in september, and that's a much more manageable commute

Fake blood.  Lots of it.

& pyros (bonus points for setting your drummer alight)

Those stick on goblin ears/chin & devil wings might help too...

Next saturday as in the 7th or 14th? I might come if its on the 7th, got a gig on the 14th though. I see you're practising in the Parlour Studio, same place we practise  :P

From my experience watching battle of the bands completitions, then you really need to do something a bit different.  Last one I saw, I must have heard about 10 Metalica covers (and I've been hearing them for about 10 years).

Unfortunately, I'm away this weekend otherwise I may have come over.

deg0ey - I go climbing at Warwick Uni every now and again.  It's only about 15-20 minutes from my gaff.  It's a nice campus with some really good bands that come to the Arts Centre.  Have fun dude (wish I was still a student   )
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

:D You need to think about what type of image your trying to project. Get just one member only to talk to the audience [ it doesn`t have to be the singer ] Don`t hold conversations over the mikes with each other or members of the audience. If you can all look like your in a band rather than just 4/5 guys that have got up from the audience. Get the individual who will talk to the audience to pre work out what there going to say. There`s nothing worse than hearing people going "Um err yer right err um" it sounds terrible & comes across even worse.

Be funny, but dont go over the top

try to get the audience involved more than anything especially if you have any chanty parts in your songs (like the DIE DIE ) on creeping death.

Cant listen your tracks cos am at work.
