New Pedalboard - Updated pics
« on: July 04, 2007, 05:37:08 PM »
Hey guys.

I've been trying to motivate myself for a while now to finally build and wireup my new pedalboard.

Work gave me the afternoon off today, so I took it upon myself to get the board done and here's a 1st look at it:

The signal path is as follows:

Modified Vox Wah
HBE Uno Mos clean boost (for when I use a Strat to boost the level slightly)
Roger Mayer Voodoo Axe Fuzz / buffer
BOSS TU2 Pedal Tuner
HBE CPR Compressor
HBE Power Screamer Overdrive
HBE Big D OD/Distortion
HBE UFO Fuzz/Octave
Custom WOBO 3 chanel true bypass looper
BOSS CE5 Chorus Ensemble + BOSS TR2 Tremolo (loop 1)
MXR Phase 90 (loop 2)
Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo (loop 3)
HBE Dos Mos 2 Channel Clean Boost / buffer

Judging by the size of the pedalboard when I 1st got it, I thought I'd easilly be able to fit the pedals I wanted across the front in 1 row, with a 1/2 row of pedals a little further back. As you can see it didn't quite turn out that way

This board may seem a little 'extreme' for most people, but I'm 1 of those guys that gets bored with using 1 or 2 sounds all the time and like keep my options open

I'd also like to thank Phil King for the George L cables, they were a life saver while wiring this board up!  :D

***EDIT***
I've finally wired the board for power so thought I'd take an 'updated pic'. I've also replaced the HBE on my board for the time being, with my G2D Custom Overdrive. I feel that I need to tweak the Big D more before I 'know' it well enough to have it on my board when I play live

blah.. who in the world uses HBE stuff...

everybody knows that even digitech is better than those amateurs.

so, what you need to do, is send them to me, i'll dispose of them in an appropriate manner

hehe. looking good there craig. though it looks like you could have all the HBE pedals (apart of the uno) in the 1st row, shift everything over a bit to the left, so you got space for the wah in the upper right corner

how is that DE7? i recently sold my SM7, since i needed the money.. last time i plugged it in, it sounded much better than i remembered it did :P
any issues with the switch? had to fill the battery compartment of mine with foam, so i could turn it on/off with just one push.. not jumping on it like a maniac, cos it wouldnt turn on othervise lol

Hey guys, cheers for the replies.

I can't move everything over to the left as there's a 'lip' around the side of the pedalboard, so inorder to get a cable to fit I have to leave space for it.

The boards quite heavy now, so I think I'll leave the wah off for the time being!

Yeah, I don't know what I'm thinking by using HBE, I should be using the good stuff

As regards the DE7, it's not too bad sounding. To be honest with ya, I use very little delay most of the time and mainly use it for it's self oscilating effect to make space ship noises

Ypu have nice pedals there but i think you should invest in better cables like GLs or Evidence. Then you can hear a vast improvement in your tone. Just a suggeston. 8)

I have George Ls between practically everything before and after the Looper (I had to use whatever I had lying around for the pedals in the loops), and also have 2 high quality buffers at the start (Roger Mayer) and the end (HBE Dos Mos) of the signal chain.

I AM going to get more George Ls for the pedals in the loops, but it's ok for the time being :)

I've always been 1 for using a fair few FX, so I'm used to the large amount of switches at my feet :)

Hi Craig,  glad the George-L's worked for you.  Like I told you, I really just don't like the jacks but since you have them in a pedal board they should work out great.  If you want more let me know as I think Musician's Friend do a set of 10 jacks and 5 ft of cable for about $50.  I'll be back there the end of September I think.
So many pickups, so little time

Hi Phil.

Yeah, they're working out great thanks. I actually ran out of useable patch cables while wiring the board, so they were a life saver!

Thanks also for the offer of helping me 'aquire' more George-Ls, I appreciate your help :)
