Default Help With Speaker Cab Please!!!
« on: July 09, 2007, 11:37:55 AM »
I have a 4x12 cab, two imputs one mono, the other to daisy chain another cab.

There are 4 8ohm speakers in there... but they are all unplugged for some reason.

How do I connect them back up in the correct order? I believe the cab will be 8ohm... or at least I would like it to be!!!

There is a picture of a Marshall cab showing the wiring at this link:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=003&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=130131862848&rd=1&rd=1
Enlarge it. Basically you wire two speakers in series with each other and then the two 'sets' in parallel.
If you can't figure it out from the picture:-
Assuming bottom left is speaker 1, top left is speaker 2, top right is speaker 3, bottom right is speaker 4:-

From jack socket black (-ve) lead to -ve on SP1, red to +ve on SP4.
Loop on from the -ve of SP1 to -ve of SP2.
Loop on from the +ve of SP4 to +ve of SP3.
Loop from the +ve of SP2 to the -ve of SP3.
Loop from the +ve of SP1 to the -ve of SP4.

If you have 8 ohm speakers this will give you a total cab rating of 8 ohms. (Two 8 ohm speakers in series give 16 ohms, two 16 ohm 'pairs' in parallel give 8 ohms)

You're welcome  :)

This particular Marshall cab was discussed in another thread on this forum - original mid 1960s. I see present bids are over £1500 with still 3 days to go  8)
