Mule (neck) Miracle Man (bridge)

Right, I've been scouring these forums for the last week or so, and I'm pretty set on equipping my personal guitar (G. LP) with your tasty humbuckers, as I crave a change. Anyway, I wasn't sure whether this combo would work nicely, so I would like a little advice if you wouldn't mind.

I play in two bands - one who plays olde-style thrash (slayer, death angel, etc.), while the other plays soft rock. See my predicament? Well I'd like to use this guitar for both as it has an absolutely stunning neck (among other qualities), so it would be nice if you reckon these two pups will clean up nicely enough. Tight bass is a necessity for shredding (one reason why I chose the MM), while the Mule is there for a bit of PAF-like tone. I was originally just going to swap in a Warpig on bridge and leave in the neck stock 'bucker, but I couldn't find enough clips on the 'pig (and the MM sounds very suitable anyway). What do you reckon?

Cheers, Matt.

Welcome to the forum, Matt.

I think the combo you're thinking about would work very well. There are some clips of the MM clean and on mild OD. A Nailbomb could also work, it's less tight in the bass but sound huge and it will clean up better than the MM IMHO. Nailbomb is more versitile, the MM is perfect for the thrash stuff.

Good stuff, thanks - I'll have another look. Have you seen any Mule clips using Alnico IVs in neck position? Probably a bit exact - sorry.

There's a part in the official BKP Mule clip. The first Mule clip in the players section.

Oh I've heard that already, but I didn't think it was ultra-clean at the time. Sounds good though. Does anyone else have a Mule neck I could listen to or any links to clips? Cheers.

I play everything from Led Zep to Megadeth/Pantera using my Mule bridge pickup and it works well for all of them styles   ! I guess it makes you and the amp work harder   I'll be getting an Alnico IV neck Mule soon so I'll be sure to post some clips of that aswell!

The Mule neck handles clean just great - I bored Tim for 10 minutes playing itchy music to him on the Mules through a Super Reverb, probably the best clean humbucker you'll hear....ever :P

You won't get any volume difference...............the difference will be in actual gain and tone. The Mule will sound alot more open and less compressed than the Miracle Man.
It's a nice combo although I must admit I partner my MM bridge with a MM neck too as I prefer the extra power for ripping on the neck. However I also take out my Mule loaded Goldtop on the same gigs and love that too!

Yeah, I wasn't worried about that WFD, but thanks anyway. Cheers for the welcome, too. I'm pretty confident that those two will suit me nicely, and providing they do, I may well look to stock them in some of the guitars we produce. Fingers crossed.

Matt!

Hails Tim... I´m WORRY about the TIGHT Bass stuff Because of one thing.
i have a charvel fusion deluxe, loaded (right now) with a Seymour duncan Custom 5 nickel cover bridge, and a Hot rails Neck..
although i liked the MIDS AND HIGHS of the Hot rails Neck, I hate the bass tone. it sounds soo buzzy, ZZZZZZZZZ, Bee, and saturated, that i have it. and... i thought it is the way it is, because of the Lots of bass and the LOTS Of tight bass. Am i right or Wrong!?
this is what scares me to try a MMNeck, instead of a The mule NECK... AND i realy digged the sounds of the mule BRIDGE that _tom_ posted. NICE, SWEET, SMOOTH AND VINTAGE!!!!
