That Dean headstock does seem to polarise opinion! For me, I'm afraid it's pig ugly. It's shallow I know but I just couldn't ever see myself playing a guitar with such a ridiculous looking headstock. Sometimes I'm unsure if I genuinely don't like Deans or I'm too biased because of my dislike of that headstock. People rave about the Razorback and I bet it sounds fantastic but I'd never own one.
Played a £4000 US customshop Dean Razorback at LGS which was honest to god one of the worst guitars I've played in my life.
There was no sustain at all, the notes choked after a step bend and although it sounded half decent, the fretboard was sticky and pretty much unplayable.
I went to one of the other stalls and tried one of the £1000 razorbacks and it was SO much better - Although still not worth the price tag since for some reason it had a Licensed FR which felt like it was made of Acrylic...
The worst thing about the US Razorback was that the Dean guy was telling us.. "You do know that's a £4000 guitar right? Are you planning on buying it?"
The look a mate of mine gave him almost turned him to stone. Was ace.
Do they honestly think people are going to LGS to hand out £4000 for such an awful piece of cr@p?
The only nice thing about the guitar was the airbrushed rusty finish - Other than that, I wouldn't have paid over 500 for it - And that's just cos that's how much the hardware costs seperately...
