Frequency Response
« on: July 14, 2007, 08:07:43 PM »
I'm sure this has been suggested numerous times, however, i think it is something that would greatly benefit the buyer.  If, on the products section of the website, every one of the BKP pages for the different pups were outfitted with a Hz graph - such as one would find on the back of a microphone package in the store - i think it would help the buyer quite a bit.

Undoubtedly the "players" section of the forum is a wonderful resource, however, the tones which are produced via the individual depend largely on said individual's set up (I.E. - Head, Cab/Speakers, Recording software/competency, petals, etc.).  This produces a very limited vantage point with which to really understand the true tonal qualities, more specifically the frequency response, of the pickups used.  This is why I think it is almost essential to the buyer to have this resource close at hand.

I for one, even though i now own a set of BKPs, would have really liked to have that available to me... and i am sure i am not alone.  If it is a work in progress, i understand, but seriously this is something that should be done, IMO.

Of course, each BKP is different due to the brilliant handwinding and tailored-to-your-needs attitude that Tim and Friends give to each pickup and customer, but obviously there is a gerneral norm that exists with say, just Riff Raffs, or just Cold Sweats - otherwise there would be no need to give them a catagorical title right?  Anyways, you all probably get what i am saying by now, so i will stop whining.
BKPz: Nailbomb+VHII, more to come...

The official clips do exist, as do the EQ graphs, but they are all awaiting the new site which will be ready ... when it's ready. :)

So that is then indeed like Chinese Democracy ...

Who cares, due to the lack of info on pickups we just have to get them all, trying will be more worth than any graphs or clips, it's easy as that.

The actual Chines Democracy or the new Guns n' Roses album.

I wonder wich will come first and wich will be the most expensive to realise.

This is very true, although would it not also be the case for the person compiling the EQ graphs?

I am assuming it would be created by someone listening to it and approximating a level (very un-scientific, i know), but forgive me if there is some sort of machine or technique which removes this ambiguity which I am unaware of.

Not in this case because all of the clips are made with the same guitar/amp/mic  setup playing the same riff with the amp or guitar only changing when the pickups change (ie, single coil, humbucker, P90, tele, etc).

Once the clips are completed the overall levels are matched for consistency. All that's required after that is someone with a lot of time to listen to all the clips and cross check them against each other and double blind his/her results, as well as the OCD necessary to complete such a mammoth task.
