HELP !!! Mules Calibrated set or Mule + Black Dog ?
« Reply #15 on: July 26, 2007, 10:18:09 AM »
Ok, seems more & more from what I hear and answers from Tim that I'd go more on :

1/ Stormy Monday + Riff Raff
2/ Mule + Black Dog
3/ Stormy Monday + Black Dog
4/ Mule + Riff Raff as Tim

What is the most versatile setup and what will suit Led Zep at best ?

Again, thanks for your help !

2/ or 3/ will be best for Led Zep, or even:

4/ Calibrated set of Black Dogs

Hmmm, is mountain spring water with a slight peaty flavour a good thing?   I'm imagining a slight brownish colour and bits at the bottom of the glass... :?

Stormy Mondays - peaty but not muddy lol ;) Just wanted to add a hint of earthiness...

you wouldn't use the meat knife on crusty bread but, equally, the serrated knife and straight edge knife aren't going to go through raw meat as quickly

Heres 2 recent recordings I did with my Mule loaded Epi LP -

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=696695&songID=5310354

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=696695&songID=5299499

There are other recordings on that soundclick page of the band but those 2 are better quality. On those 2 tracks I'm on the right speaker I think. Guitars sound a bit thin through my computer speakers but the other guitarist says they sound better through his home stereo so I dont know if its a good indication of the tone or not  I love my lead tone (1st solo is me) on Cant Get Enough tho, neck pickup!

Also, all the clips in the other soundclick link in my sig are using the Mules.

I reckon you'll like them!

Hi All,

After some hesitations, I bought some second hand Calibrated Set of Mules from a very nice guy from the forum and guess what... My mules are coming from the Gibson Flying V that was customized in Paris for Lenny Kravitz...

Ok, I know this would never make me play like him

Anyway, the funny thing is that I know now that in fact, my Gibson pickups were Alnico V, I guess so because they are written "AL V"   but don't which one they are...

What is sure is that now, I got a really KILLER sound, very very impressive... I didn't have so much time to play (I was in holidays near Robert Plant cottage & Rockfield Studios at Monmouth, lovely & legendary place) but the HIWATT CUSTOM 100 just loves the stompboxes and I got something very good with the Tonebone Hot British... I think it will be even better in some days with the Carl Martin Plexitone.

Once again, Thank you Tim for your products and all of you for your advices... I got now the guitar of my dreams...  :drink:
