The upper middy mids does make sense  :) ... I had a custom custom in this strat style guitar which I felt lacked a little in terms of ooommpphhh and I also found that i was adding a few bd's of gain at around 3.5khz to give it a bit more cut/bite... so the guys at BKP suggetsed the crawler, which has given me those things...I would say that I have tweaked the mid range on the amp down a tad so would go along with it having a lot going on there...but it sounds really full and articulated across the whole range on this guitar :)

Machek on the video is that the crawler on the opening riff? Sounds big. what amps are you guys playing there?

So is the Crawler as mid heavy as the JB? Is it loose like the JB?

Halas no it still was the Gibbo 498T at that time, but if you liked that i must warn ya that the Crawler must sound like ten times better than that, they are thicker more defined, more raucous and just more pleasant in the highs, the gibbos made me hate those frequencies that were piercing my ears and all i wanted them to do is die, so i would erase them with the tone knob never higher than 5... but the 498T is quite scooped in the mids so it left me with a very poor range of frequencies... Now i'm just happy with my trebles -that just bring bite and definition and no shrillness- and always leave the tone knob at 10, which is a huge change for me! And it sounds awesome. if you liked these kinda tones in the vids, you will LOVE the Crawler bridge

The amp was a Genz-Benz 100 watter, i don't know which model. I thought they sounded quite okay but you know how you don't really really hear your sound on stage

EDIT: was this one: http://www.genzbenz.com/?fa=detail&mid=1403&sid=416&cid=91

And i can't compare to the JB, never played one... but they sure have some huge balls in the mids, i was afraid it was gonna be those oozing undefined sloppy mids ala QOTSA which i don't like either, but it's nowhere near that, it's just firm, raucous, thick, and greatly ballsy.

In my view the JB is about as 'middly' as the crawler, but doesnt have the same girth across all strings  - on my tokai strat it was a little thin at the top range but good in mid and bass end (on a LP type I imagine that would be very think and meaty at bottom and midrange and decent level at top end). The crawler has more definition and has higher output IMHO.

Put it this way - the JB now isnt in any of my guitars, the crawler is on my main guitar and the custom custom is on the tokai :)

Hope this helps :)
