Boost Options...

Hails Guys!
i would like to know from you, what kind of Boost do you recomend me.
i´m thinking in getting a Boost circuit, to use with all guitars i have.
or should a use a boost pedalfor it?! clean or distorted boost!?

what i want is.. increase of output, and a little bit of Tone change. somethign Like, more middles, more Highs,and middle/bass.
are those frequencies the right ones to be boosted for a LEAD work situation? thats the reason i´m looking for a boost Circuit.
i´m not sure if any f the emg boost circuits can work with passive pickups,and BKps specially.

I'd get a pedal rather than an on-board boost, simply because the on board preamps rarely have a decent bypass, and the quality of the tone is usually not great.
For solo work you could think about maybe a tubescreamer style pedal for a mid boost or a treble booster.
Personally for a boost to my sound i like my Fulltone fat boost but I don't think that it'd be to your tastes.

yep, i have one of those as well.  fantastic pedal!

If you're looking to boost your volume for solos, I'd be tempted to use an EQ pedal in the FX loop of your amp.

That way you can boost volume and any specific frequencies you want to :)

Blue and Twinfan.. can you do a clip with, and without the pedal? i mean, you play a lick, without the pedal, and then, the same lick,with the pedal.

i'm going with the eq pedal idea ;) i have a modded boss ge-7 which i use in front of the amp.

its great, works with everything. my other pedals work well too, but just in certain combinations.

it sounds like you are a tweaker WFD, you probably have a drive you're happy with. i think an eq would be ideal for you... you're talking about adjusting frequency responses and so on...

I could do, but the pedal has a whole load of tweaks - gain, a treble cut, three possible treble boost voices and 5 possible "fat" switch options.  You tailor the pedal to suit your taste.  What I play will suit me, but you might hate it.  The pedal will more than likely do what you want it to do if you adjust it.

As I'm sure Blue and TO will say, it'll do what you want it to do.

My friend, i would love to, but i have no way to record at the minute.  something i've been meaning to sort out for years!

depending where you set the level on the pedal, you can get anything from a slight volume boost to a big lift with loads of extra gain and screaming tone.  of course this depends on the amp you use it with and where you set all the mini switches inside.  oh, and the cut knob allows you to tame the highs if they seem too shrill.

must say though, i agree with the guys above that an E.Q. pedal might suit you better.

i have a boss Ge7,in fact, its a boss GEB ahahah for bass. but it can work out, just as a little test experience.
i´m about to buy the Boss ge7 too,but not son

I recommend the MXR 6 band EQ. I just got one from a member on this board (traded a Miracle Man for it) and I'm loving it. When set up right, it really brings out your guitar more and makes things a little tighter.

my idea is to use both Bass and guitar pedals to make a almost 14 band eq .
