Philly,

apart from my kids I have never achieve anything that I would count as worthwhile

Basically I have always felt the same way, let me guess anything you do achieve you discard saying that it was nothing anyway

Ine aspect may be may be termed alienation, and that can be a contributer to (or the cause of) depression (from the courses I attended)

An outside point of view from a friend (or relation) can improve matters, but it's better if you can take an 'outside view' of yourself to get things in perspective.

For me it flipped into fully fledged depression a few months after my fathers death, and had to get medical help when there where problems in my marrage.

yep, most of that sounds disturbingly familiar!

it's funny, you think everyone around you is happy and contented, but under the surface, how many really are?  we all think our problems are unique to ourselves, but someone expresses how they feel and there's a chorus of bewildered and slightly relieved "me too"'s.

i suppose if we're gonna wallow in misery, we might as well have some company! who's round is it?

Amazing Philly. I thought exactly the same as you. Right down to the 'I amuse people with my moaning'.

You, however, do have talent. You play guitar. What looks like trivial facts to you is actually your ability to remember things. It's to soon to say you achieved nothing in life. Life ain't over yet. Like you I'm not someone that belongs to a group. And I don't want to either. This doesn't mean I can't socialize or don't have friends.

I don't like some bars/disco's/parties so I don't go there anymore. Some people just like to drink till they drop and behave like children on lame music. I don't. I skipped that party and went to the Mustang Club's track day. (Cool club, btw. Lots of different kinds of people)

It's still bugging me I don't have a solid relationship, a real goal or ambition. For now, I'm just going with the flow and see what life will bring to me.

I don't hate my work anymore and I still like the people I work with. It helps if you stand up for yourself in shitety job situations.

dunno if anyof it was mich help except to say that it's part of the human condition.

Then realising that you are not the only one helps I suppose.

Take care,

Rob...

I'll probably always live alone, never have children.  I have things in common with lots of different people, but somehow I always feel like an outsider - in any group I never quite fit in (this manifests itself especially when everyone is "supposed" to be enjoying themselves - like at pubs and parties).

This is exactly how I am  :o  :?  :( I feel like I should be enjoying myself at the pub etc with my mates, but really I dont find it that enjoyable..

Now that enjoying yourself in the pub has been mentioned.......

I was enjoying myself last friday in the pub, havin' a beer. Some were celebrating their return from holiday, gettin' sh!tfaced. Dispite that, the atmosphere was good. Untill............the village witch felt insulted by some vague reason and all hell broke loose.

Thanks for ruining a good evening/night

I just wanted to get that off my chest.

I agree with alot of things in this thread. I`ve had the wankest year ever and don't feel like much enjoyment but I think family and friends help LOTS and you gotta stay positive. The next rounds on me!!

I was in two or three minds about making that post last night, but thanks for the comments guys.  I guess it is, as they say, good to talk.  And maybe I'm not such a freak after all, or at least not the only one.  Let's wave our freak flags high!

(And Matt, sorry for talking about myself rather than offering anything constructive...)

Well.... no.  In the unlikely event that I ever post a clip in the Players forum, you'll have cause to re-evaluate that kind comment.  Cheers anyway!

Hey Philly,

it helps to realise that you are not the only one, Oh yeah it also helps to avoid listening to The Wall or any solo Roger Waters material

Hey I'm going to have to hire somebody to do my clips (if I ever get to buy a set of pickups)
