My BKP's turned up
« on: August 19, 2007, 11:26:21 AM »
I have been gassing for these for  a year so I was pretty excited when I finnally managed to order them a few weeks back.

the wiring is extremely neat and I'm pretty damn impressed for something that I could have done myself but nowhere near as good!!!  :P  :P

I was a little concerned about the gap in the bottom of the cover to baseplate.

I took a pic, I think its OK but I thought I might ask before I put 'em in my strat. All three pickups have the same gap so maybe it all good. I dunno.

I feel a little awkward putting this pic up as I'm not whinging or dissin' anyone, but I have dreamt of getting these for sooooo long and if there is a problem I'd rather clear it up.

its not a problem at all.  The plastic covers are just covers and dont need to be as tight a fit as metal covers do.

what models s/c's have you got - do they have a slightly taller coil to allow more windings that makes them a little big for stock s/c covers

They are Slowhands Wez.

I wanted a warmer Hotter sounding pickup and they fitted the bill.

Thanks noodle, I was hoping someone like you guys might reply, lol

wez has put a few of my fears at rest. this was my first single coil set and I coulnt remember if My Irish Tour had that style of base. (its currently in my strat and I havent seen it for a while.

I ordered a full pick guard coz the stock American deluxe one has the SCN pickups which have 3 wires per coil and the S1 switch witch has more terminals than you can poke a stick at. I threw my hands in the air and went "too hard"

I like this idea I can modify my strat and still have the ability to make it original again quickly. :D

tbh i have only had a couple of single coils from BKP and i really cant remember how well the covers fit, i know they dont always fit snuggly on other makes so its not something i worry about

you should see how badly fender black dove pickups fit inside there p-90 covers if youwant to see worrying pickup design

thanks guys... I am in a mad rush to do other stuff (kids, life, house, work yadah yadah yadah) but I am dead keen to record the strat before and after the conversion.

It coming into spring here and its bike show season. I have to work the next 14 days straight and then i get a break (6 days a week!!) then back into another show.

oh well, life of a stinkin salesman I suppose. LOL

nah his strat sits in his case and doesnt come out except for a few photo shots in the past few months.

It still has the original stickers on the pick guard and all.

Actually that brings up a good point gingastaff.

Hey wez do you reackon I should re-oil the frett board on my sons strat? Its a rosewood and hasnt left its case pretty much since I bought it last September. I was thinking of restinging it and re-oiling the board as a maintanence issue.
