Phil's Strats
« on: August 27, 2007, 01:30:27 AM »
This time there are a few more as I have played Strats for a long time.  My first was a 69 CBS, which I traded for a 54 Les Paul Special reissue. The ones I have now are:

Front
Fernandez Revival real lawsuit strat - this is the one Fender took the chainsaws to.  I got mine in 82.  It has 70's Fender pickups on an anodized plate.
Warmoth swamp ash/flamed redwood body, flamed maple/ebony neck, scalloped from 13th fret -beautiful job by Jonathan at Feline.  Holy Diver/Trilogy Suites
Reliced Swamp Ash with Wenge/Bloodwood neck, CBS headstock, Warmoth Wolfgang carve, experimental A3/A5 combo pickups (not BK - I tried but Tim is too busy!).
hardtail Shell Pink, anagre/pau ferro neck, SRV carve.   Anagre looks like amazing flamed maple.
Stew Mac body and neckwith 2 HB's - SD pickups - Dave Murray all the way (except for my playing   )
Behind stand
Black Basswood with birdseye maple/ebony neck - EMG 83 + 2 SA's, SPC and RPC circuits too.  My old recording guitar and a favourite to play out because it is really light.
on the couch
Hollow Body quilt top with tele neck - Irish Tour set - reverse angle bridge pickup and reverse stagger magnets.
60 Olympic White refin Slab board original pickups (Tim rewound one that had gone but I don't remember which position I put the rewind in, and no-one can tell!!!).
63 Burgandy Mist all original - curved board.  I bought this in 83 for about £500 from Vintage and Rare when they worked out of a flat in Paddington.  It really needs a refret (so does the olympic white).  This has a chunky neck with great sustain
57 white old refin (finish is cracking) Apaches and BK aged plastic.  Incredible V neck and great sound.  No varnish left on most of fingerboard and back of neck

This time you can also see my 1890's Cloisonne clock - it still keeps great time and goes for about a week between winds.

There are still 2 more in the works.  One is a Bravewood Fiesta Red 64 with Rebel Yell and 2 Mothers Milks (in an original scratchplate that I cut out in the 70's!).  The other will be a dakota red copy of my 57 that John is going to make me, once I get the neck to him!  I'm not sure which pickups though at this point it will be Apache's, but if there are any new BK Strat sets then it may change.
So many pickups, so little time
