Versatile pickup set up?
« on: July 30, 2005, 11:55:18 AM »
I'm looking for a rather versatile set up, to either go in my Epi SG doubleneck or possibly my Ibanez RG to replace the Dimarzio Evo's.

I don't want a particular tone (ie. I don't know what I want), not a too heavy tone, but good enough for metallica type stuff, mainly a classic rock (AC/DC, Floyd) sound but also good enough for indie/pop punk.
And if possible a good clean sound.

Basically I want too much.  :?

I've liked the sound/look of the Emeralds, Mule and MM.

Why not rather a Nailbomb for the bridge position?

Calibrated set of mules or an MM bridge and mule neck. Fun times.

Matt!
Hoble Guitars. Mule + MM so far.

I'd go for a set of mules. They are our most versatile pickup set. You will defiantly be able to get all of the tones you describe and The Mule has a very nice clean tone.
Check out some of the clips in the player’s room and let us know what you think.

Get the Mules for sure. I have a bridge Mule in my LP and I'm just waiting for the neck one to be built. The difference in tone is amazing. I always use to use my neck pickup for clean sounds but now it sounds so lifeless compared to my BKP Mule, I dont normally like bridge pickups for clean but this is so much better than the stock pickups! I cant wait to get my neck Mule in!
