I'm probably going to be buying a JTM45 clone in the near future and wondered if anyone else round here has one? Something in the tone of it just spoke to me.

I think with one of those and a couple of pedals I'll be in tone heaven...

Be sure to check out Ceriatone's version of the amp. Just under $1000 inc shipping for a fully assembled PTP handwired amp. I want their Plexi 50.

Check out the Cornell 45/50, which can give you both flavours, the JTM45 which is closer to Bassman as well as the JMP50 which has more of the Marshall crunch (selectable rectifiers).

It's pricey but as far as I know the best Plexi clone out there at reliable quality (unless you're lucky and find a good vintage one).

Suhr Badger is interesting as well in that league but tonally different I think.

It's a Ceriatone kit that this particular amp was built from by a local electrical engineer. I've seen the insides and believe me, this guy can solder! It's art. Plus it has a few upgraded bits like carbon-comp resisters and some Sozos.

I tried his Marshall 18w/36w clone too and I preferred the JTM45. Not as much crunch from the amp, but that's what pedals are for right? Plus the cleaner JTM tone was much sweeter to my ears.

I'm thinking one of my Mule'd Les Pauls might sound a bit tasty through it...

Well it looks like the deal is done. I'm trying the JTM45 again on Tuesday or Wednesday just be sure, then the guy wil be building me a cabinet for the head. It'll be in black tolex, with black corners, white panels and chicken head knobs 8)

I'll see what I can do Hunter - although my clip recording gear isn't the best I'm afraid :(

This amp should be even better than the regular kits due to the cap upgrades it's had, although I believe it still has the original Ceriatone transformers which some people swap.

It's got JJ ECC83 and Sovtek KT66 valves which are the better newly produced ones knocking about.

I've got some old Brimars I may stick in the preamp though, and I'm thinking of getting some Valve Art KT66s :twisted:

- JTM45 ( 5F6-A ) clone amp with a couple of Plexi era twists
- Made by the same guy who builds the amps for Carl Martin
- Hand wired, all point-to-point using terminal strips a là Hiwatt
- Combination of TAD Mustard, Sozo and Auricaps coupling caps
- Valves; 2 x KT66 GEC, 2 x Mullard ECC83, 1 Philips ECC83 with matched triodes for the PI, 1 x Philips GZ34. Naturally all NOS .
- Parallel FX loop with mixing pot and gain reduction switch
- Cathode bias operation switch
- Master volume pot
- Obsolete Electronics JTM45 repro output transformer wired for 16 ohms.
- Black Tolex covered
- 2 x 12” semi-closed cabinet, same tolex as head with two handles a là vintage VOX and BluesBreaker grille cloth.
- Weber Blue Dog and Silver Bell alnico speakers. 12”.
- Only the best components available used.

The clean tone from a JTM45 is just gorgeous - the best Marshall clean tone ever imo. They do a mean crunch tone as well, apparently
