Warpig in a plexi-bodied guitar
« on: July 30, 2005, 04:34:04 PM »
Hello,

I've just impulse bought a plexi-bodied guitar, the first one that i've owned.  So does anyone here know what effect the material will have on a pickups sound compared to wooden bodies?  I'm thinking of putting a warpig in it that i've got lying about, but before I crack out the soldering iron it might be useful if anyone can give me an idea of what it might sound like (whether it'll be worth it...)

Cheers,
Chris

Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters uses one a lot. The exact same type of axe was used by George Kooymans of the Golden Earring in the early days. Remember Radar Love?

Cheers guys!

Actually I installed it today (curoisity got the better of me   ), was a bit of a pain though as the pickup out wasn't quite big enough for the 'pig for some reason, so it took some surgery    I'm pretty impressed actually, it sounds pretty good!  I'll try to record some clips over the next few days, if anyone's interested...

Here you go Ratrod!

It's a cheapie guitar, with a small body (I thought it'd be good for travelling...).  It plays okay, not great but hopefully a good setup will sort that out.  But the sound with the warpig is nice  :D

Where's the rest of it?

Wouldn't do a Chili Peppers act with it. Reminds me of the idea someone had about a pink flower Daisy Rock guitar with a Warpig.

Sorry Chris, I don't mean any disrespect to you or the guitar.

Haha...  no, that's cool!  The reason I bought it was cos it looked kind of odd (I like that  ), and the body is tiny like a steinberger cricket bat, so it should be good for travelling (which i'm doing a lot of lately and daresn't take any of my decent guitars.

Hehe, I have that exact same guitar!!, LOL, I got mine off Ebay a while back, I use it just for day to day playing and noodling, just the right size to lounge and play.

I really like the neck on mine, considering it is a cheapo, although the neck didn't like 13's...
