Simple songs to learn by ear.
« on: September 09, 2007, 10:24:18 PM »
Topic pretty much sums it up, i need to work on my ear training, but everything i want to learn is far far to complex for my first go!

So if you guys have anything thats decent and simple to suggest, i'd love to hear 'em, all kinda styles, and learn 'em, i really need to start learning by ear, sadly my eyes have gone a bit weird and looking at tab just makes me feel sea sick... weird!

Cheers in advance guy.

Learning by ear was the only way to go before tabs on the interweb.

Eastenders! You do this too? I like to play it Les Dawson Style, with lots of deliberate bum notes but try and keep it in contex, hey it's jazz!

Seriously, for anything by ear, have a go at whole lotta love by Zepp or Paranoid by Sabbath, Highway To Hell AC/DC they're easy to work out by ear.

Good man for not having a TV, adam!

I went without one, and didnt miss it for a second, for about 3 years. But the monitor I used to use was a TV too, and when I upgraded I was given an ariel. Just a little one, I havent bothered with the external ariel. Reception is nothing to me. I watch it maybe 1hour a week.

Simple song by ear....Debased Humanity, by Origin.

What?

I've been working on it. Slowly

What i did once is make guitar up for a remix of this electro song, by taking parts from the original, that weren't in the remix, zazzing em up a bit, and playing them over the remix.
It's fun to play stuff on guitar that isn't on guitar in the original song. synth lines and stuff are usually very clearly audible, and simplistic enough to trnascribe, also giving you the opportunity to 'pimp the tune' a bit if your heart desires...
Don't know if any of that makes any sense..?
