BK with Gibson Les Paul with Dual Rectifier
« on: September 11, 2007, 09:54:08 PM »
Well, the title probably explains my quest. I am looking for a pickup for in my Gibson Les Paul(s). I have a '91 Classic, and a CS Class 5. I have a dual channel Dual Rectifier, and for an idea of the music I make visit http://www.myspace.com/fivelastwords. The songs on our myspace arent my Gibsons and are recorded with a Pod Pro, keep that in mind ;)

I want a bridge pickup that sounds huge, bigggg balls, but still open. I don't want the metal tone, i like it to have more clarity but still very grainy (thats what the Recto is for). I prefer the SD Alnico2 in my Classic to the Burstbucker in my Class5. Perhaps the words to describe my tone make no sense, sorry for that, I even find it hard in my own language :D

On the site i really liked the Rebel Yells, but i couldnt find a good comparison with other pickups withouth a totally different amp and different settings. Who helps me out? Thanks!

in my ex-rectifier i preferred the ceramic miracle man than my holy diver, cause it took part of loose bass and the fizzy mids of the amp
the holy diver sounded good for tool and alice in chains kind of distortion
maybe a nailbomb?

I think you want the VH2 or Black Dog (Vintage Hot).

The higher the output = the less open sound.

Well, I don't know about the outputs of the Alnico2, but they somewhat suffice. I don't think it differs that much from the Burstbuckers, though I could be wrong. At least I know I play with a reasonable amount of distortion (duh, its a Recto).

As I said its hard to use the right words. Perhaps I see open as not totally focussed on lows and mids, a Les Paul can get too blurry. As long as it sounds huge when i play rythm guitar, almost never lead.
