G'day everyone!
As you could guess I'm planning to change the pups of my guitar, a Gibson SG Std.
I was reading on the site and on the forum as well for a lonnnnnnng time about pups specifications and everything but as english isn't my native tongue I would like to be sure my choice is the best I could make.
I want a warm, smooth tone for the neck pup which allows me to play with a nice clean tone and crunchy overdrived tone too.
I like the 490R I've got now but I'd like something a wee bit more "vintage".
For the bridge pup, I want a "edgy", "slashy", "sharpy" ( Do you see what I mean ? ) tone. Don't get me wrong, I don't want a pup to play satanic music (just kiding

) just something punchy and "vintage".
To give you an idea, I love to play for 75% of the time "bluesy hard rock'n'roll" like AC/DC, AC/DC, AC/DC, Led Zep, old Aerosmith, Gov't Mule, old GNR, ZZ Top.......
Sometimes when I'm angry Maiden and Priest. And when I'm really angry Megadeth. But metal isn't the kinda tone I'm looking for firstly.
At the moment my choices are :
- a Mule in neck and a Black Dog in bridge
or
- a Stormy monday in neck and a Riff Raff in bridge
What would be the differences ?
These pups would be covered, potted coil and 4 condutors (even if I want to wire them exactly as my SG is right now I was thinking if one day I change my mind that'd be easier to wire them in a different way).
Hoping it's clear for you to understand, I did my best.
Thank you for your help.
Merci beaucoup.
