What the hell, every time i plan to go out and get something you seem to snap one up before I have a chance. It happened with the Tiny Terror and now this, exact same guitar - colour and everything. I think theres a conspiracy  :!:

And you forgot that while you quote Einstein in your signature, I'm playing on him already  :P

Ok that was horrible, I apologise.

Well, good luck with the Baja, it's fun, those switching options are way cool, wondering if it would be similarly useful to be able to do phase and serial/parallel on my other (2xHB) guitars...

Just bought a 'proper' tele myself (not lumping my FlatHeads as such   )

Highway 1 Texas Edt. and she truly rawks!

I went Texas edt. due to the 12" radius neck which is not currently offered on any other Fender bar the EJ Strat (my FlatHeads are 12" ya see).

AHA, thanks Philly.
NOT interested in a Fender Strat though anyways :) Going diff. route for that :)

Kinda like the finish myself. And if ya look at it hard it begins to relic so should look beat up real soon from all the playing. The thin finish really lets her breath too. And, surprisingly (ssshhhhh) the three brass saddles are thus far behaving themselves lol.

lol, you can be the second to know :)

Lets say the Suhr Badger, Fargen Mini-Plex II and Reinhardt (with PS) are all in running but am talking to a small custom amp builder here next week and testing some of his gear so will see.

Hmm, sound wise it would be the MiniPlex for me, but the badger has a loop, which makes it more versatile and useable for some applications ... but who needs effects with an amp like the Plex ...

my internal jury is still out here.
My mate has heard some of this builders stuff and was blown away so am waiting to see there.
Lets be honest, when you price these things alot comes into 'name' and profit (just look what ceriatone sells their stuff for, kit-partial-complete). So, will await with baited breath what this guy has done so far and can do, money is money after all and the tone is what matters so if can get what I want without the 'name' and cheaper then I will be v.happy!

Also, have yet to try a Fargen yet to a/b with the badger I did, which makes a diff. to me too. Soundclips are all well and good,but.........

Dakine,

Your reasoning is exactly why I'm picking up a Ceriatone-based JTM45 (built by a local engineer and amp guru) this weekend.  Half the price of a Marshall handwired and all the other boutique offerings...

Well, NOT putting down John Suhr, Reinhardt etc., BUT, the components are not THE most costly and tbh the job (if bought in kit form) is not rocket science.
Now, for mods and 'new' ideas, sure, 'known' amp makers are amazing. But nowadays it is very easy for someone to get what would be a high price booteek amp for way less money by assembling yourself or even getting a tech. to do it.
It is also a WONDERFUL way to learn more about tube amps etc. and become more educated on them.
He was ill but 'ampmaker' who is in the UK sells a VERY reasonable and easy kit which is highly regarded and a great intro to tube amps.

The power scaling box is $200 or about 100gbp, not a whole lot when ya think about attenuators etc. which do not come close to this. Just 1 example of the bits and pieces that don't actually add up to thousands.

Course, we are not trying to make a living, pay wages, pay overheads, pay taxes from amp building, but still ;) Nik at Ceriatone has ruffled ALOT of feathers this side of the pond thats for sure!

And I realise I am currently in the US but most venues here if needing great volume have a PA, and those that don't well ya just run ya amp.
What I mean is, really, who NEEDS a 100watt amp these days?
With PS (from my ears) tone is now not an issue (ie can get that sat. tone at low vol.) so with modern gigs (with PA) why go gung ho?

And this is coming from me sitting in a country that STILL builds V10 cars, sheesh

18watt or even 30 if ya must is LOUD!!!!!!!!!!! and can now be enjoyed at bedroom levels.

I smell an amp revolution coming.

Statistics show guitar sales are historically VERY high and most are bedroom players. To me this means bedroom volumes but wanting that 'my hero' tone.

Exciting times me thinks.

He can ruffle as many feathers as he wants as long as he stays in business for a bit.  I might want my amp dude to build me a twin transformer JTM45/100 and I'll need some bits off Nik...
