For digi echos I liked the digitech and the line 6 echo park (but not the big DM one) in their tape sim modes. My Boss DD5 is a good delay but it's too clean and I want multi tap (I however do enjoy jamming over the 5 second delay)
For analogue I you can find old Arion, Pearl and Ibanez which sound quite good and at decent prices. Though I do like the Memory Man despite them being noisy.

For my own purposes I am hunting Binsons but the very cheapest I have seen on the last 4 years is 375 quid (they go up when I actually have the money). Also their preamps are supposed to contribute hugely to their sound
The Shadows style clips actually reminded me how much better tape (and analogue) delays sound, and how mad the delays they used actually where. Damn now I have to hunt out my pre teen albums (still atleast I can play the songs)
