What's the EH Metal Muff like? I want a versatile distortion pedal, and this baby seems pretty cool. Does it take a boss style power input though? I hate having to use a reverse polarity/male input for my bug muff.

FINALLY found a way to upload a +100MB video clip.

Anyway, here's a quick demo of the BroTech Fat Pipe Pro in action:

That was great! Totally worth the downloading time, fellas.

Good tone too. How do you find that Agile? I've heard some people say they are great and some find them quite plastic-y.

I really like it. It's FAR from fake feeling; it's 10 lbs of solid guitar! The fingerboard is a straight 14" radius which may not be comfortable to some people, however. After upgrading the pickups to BKs, though, it sounds very good.

BTW, that guitar has a Riff Raff/Stormy Monday set in it. So, you can imagine how much grind you can get out of the Fat Pipe with a high output pickup.

Hey are there any really good ANALOG or true bypass distortion pedals out there that are under 200 quid?

EDIT: Other than the Fat Pipe?  I want to shop around for the good stuff, see what i like.

Hi guys! I'm about to get myself a new distortion pedal! I need you to help me choose!

I'm looking for this kind of tone

Some of you might not like this band, but I really like this tone...So, help me on this, please!

The MI Audio Crunchbox and Tube Zone are well worth a look for those tones. The Tube zone is the more tweakable and flexible of the two. THey are also realtively cheap and also true bypass. Lots of dealers in Europe too.

You might want to do a search, as that subject has already come up recently. Or start another thread.

This thread is about finding a distortion pedal that will emulate the tone Sonata Arctica achieved on the video clips in the OP's first post. If you don't know what to recommend, and don't have 1st hand experience with the pedal you are suggesting, it invalidates your post.

Let's keep this on topic, please, and keep the random listing of every distortion pedal on the market down to a minimum. :)

Wow!! I really like this Tube Zone!!
I wish women were like pickups - if they lack output, you sell them... or ask Tim to rewind them :D

The tube zone is a great pedal. If you go to thegearpage.net and do a search for "tube zone", you should find some recent really nice, impressive clips done with the tubezone. I know someone on there has posted them fairly recently.

Did the search; nothing of importance (in terms of recent posts) really turned up :(  That is why i thought it would be good to ask on a semi-relevant thread.

:?: I didn't even suggest a pedal, nor did i intend to, i just asked a question... How does my post wander into the territory of validity at all?...  a question is a question, not a suggestion...
