Couldn't agree more - guitars amps at gig volume are the biggest tone shaping tool - everything else is 'erbs and spices.  Everything else just adds a little flavour to the mix.

Doesn't stop us from buying gear tho!

Obviously, i just picked up a great user '74 SG Special, played it LOUD and wondered why it sounds so much better in my ears then those modern copies. Hmm... considering this probably my amp sucks, any suggestions? :P
