Hey guys, I've been a member of this board for years (Maliciousteve), I had to re-register as I tried to change my email address to a current email but it didn't work out. So I have to start all over again.

I've been thinking about possibly getting a new cab near the end of the year and I have 3 in mind.

Framus 2 x 12
Marshall 1936 2 x 12
Orange 2 x 12

As you can see I want to have V30's and something a little smaller than my current 4 x 12. Which of these would you recommend?

I'm looking for something with a sweet midrange, smooth highs that cut through and a good tight bass response. Most of these come from the amp, I know (running a Laney VH100R) but I need something that will kick my sound out more.

Orange are meant to be awesome, they look cool as well. The only bad thing I've read about them is that they dont record very well, but thats only what a few people on HC have said so I dont know if thats neccesarily true or not.

I have a Tube Town (http://www.tt-cabs.com/index.html) british series 2x12 and its great, good value for money. With 2 G12H speakers mine cost about £240 including shipping.

edit - also, I've read a few times that the tolex on the Framus is quite thin and tears easily, just something to bare in mind.

Have you run your amp throuhg a 2x12 with V30s before???

They can be a bit middly in my 1936 Marshall.  Great if that's what your amp likes (Super Klipp-Bass) but awful if it doesn't (JTM45).

Try before you buy...

framus. Its cheaper than the orange, weighs a bit less, and is still really durable.  Though, i'd personally get the orange because i like the look and framus is unavailable to me hah.
my maxon OD 808 really DOES make poop sound good

Orange.

I have no idea what any of the others sound like, but the orange looks so much cooler!

I have an Orange 1x12 which I love.

Have a look at the cabs from these guys - http://www.myspace.com/zilla_music .  The cabs are very reasonably priced and made in the UK. I have a closed back 2x12 from them and construction quality seems OK-good. They use slightly smaller dimensions than many, and slightly thinner ply, which makes the cabs VERY portable, but still amply sturdy enough. For me it was a good compromise. Sounds good too.
Oh, and they also do them in orange.

the normal marshall 1936 doesn't have vintage 30s, but there is a version with vintage 30s, I've only seen it for sale on 1 website, so I'm guessing it's only just become available

engl do a 2x12 with vintage 30s too, I'm guessing it's around the same cost as the orange but I wouldn't have a clue what to recommend

That's exactly what I've got to run my JCM900 through and it sounds fan-$%&#ing-tastic!  :D

Option 2, the marshall, i would buy it used because i think speakers only get better when used properly for some time and if they are busted up youll notice anyway(they sound really dark and kind of wobbly).

Just my 2 cents

I have a Heritage 2x12 which is about the best I heard (and I heard some), it's a ported design, so fulller and more 3D than most cabs.

Top notch as well are Bogner2x12.

They aren't much more expensive than Orange but sound better than any of your 3 and are much lighter than Orange for sure.

Where did you find them for Orange price? The one I found online was £570!
