actually guys, i finally have had time to check out the links (already know Wez and Feline and Legra), i'm thinking about things a little differently.  No superstrats here.  No PRS similars here.  We are talking custom builders that do mock Gibson LPs and Mock fender Strats.  Just like the old style, any goodies?

Jon that guitar & finish looks amazing, reminds me of godins body style. Weren't tokai Japan taking on custom orders a while back?

Bob at legra will make anything you want. I get the impression total one-off customs are what he gets out of bed for  8). I'm certain he can make a strat or LP to your satisfaction.

His work is flawless, prices are great and hes very knowledgable and very, very helpfull and pleasant to deal with. I'm sure that other luthiers our there do a great job, but given my experience working with Bob, I cant recommend Legra enough

ok thanks for the replys guys.  Legra is an option, i suppose.  I guess i was just looking for guys who did exclusive mock-up builds of 50's and 60's gibson LPs and Fender strats.

Thanks again though.

There is a guy who makes Les Paul's but I don't think he has a web site and the last I heard he has a 3 year waiting list!  The cost is over £3,000 too.

I have a couple of Bravewood's in the pipeline.  They take about a year after ordering and you also need to be patient, as it is basically a one man operation.  The guitars feel just like the originals and if you get an aged one, then it looks like the age it is meant to be (even down to lacquer fade!).

I've spent many hours looking at that website!  :D   The only thing that puts me off (costs and waiting list apart) is that he seems very dedicated to doing things in an exact vintage-correct way.  I'd be far too intimidated to ask for shielded body cavities, bigger frets or (horror!) non-cloth-covered wiring.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

He is a bit flexible, I have a HSS strat coming (Rebel Yell & Mothers Milks).  I know what you mean because I was worried that he wouldn't want to make it, but it turns out that he was pretty enthusiastic (might have helped that I had a real 60's scratchplate already cut for HSS!).  My other is a real original though, a stack pot Jazz bass with BK pickups in Burgandy Mist.

Yeah, I figured it was just the way he expresses himself in writing.

On the website he comes across as "you'll be very bloody lucky if I have time to build you a guitar, and if by some miracle I do, just leave me to it and don't try to interfere!"
