Could heat up a knife and burn an X on each side. It's the best I can come up with right now  :?

or i could just etch an X in i guess. thats a good enough idea for now. i wonder how a bit of gauze pad material would work...

B.K.Ps own 1.14 mm heavy celluloid, ( Re-badged D'Andreas ? ).

I was using 'Planet Waves'  1.14mm celluloid, but the BKP badged ones have a softer sounding attack, which I prefer  for playing clean and mellow.

Tortex 0.73 for me - I like to wear them down a bit before using them 'seriously' and when they get too worn, just nail file them up a bit :)  I find they grip fine..once they are warmed up.

I use the BKP you get free with the pickups...Yes I am a tight git.

Also the tiny green tortex ones they're nice for fast riffage and pinched harmonics. Dunno what make they are.

I have an extensive pick collection and change them depending on my mood but I am currently favouring (you guessed it!) JD Jazz III, I like the black and the red and both regular and XL sizes. I also like using JD nylons if playing legato as they have very little pick attack, or I use tortex orange or yellow if I want extra Paul Gilbert style pick attack.

drill or skewer a hole through the pick, makes it easier to hold on to.
I used to do that, but seem to be ok at gripping them now

big jazz IIIs for me as well, I don't really have a preference between black and red, I mostly use red though (probably cos I got more of them)

recently got a 2mm big stubby, looks like a jazz III but it's purple and see through, there is a slightly curve on the flat sides so I think it comes off the string a tiny bit easier, I'm still experimenting and working out which I prefer

Those 2mm Stubbies are what I use EXCLUSIVELY - No pick comes even close - Absolutely love them.

That being said, I tend to wear them down quite quickly - Which is amazing considering how stiff they are!

do you not find the big stubbies too small? I use the 3mm triangles, they're a much better shape and size (they do a 2mm version, too, along with a 1.5 I think...)

I like the large rounded triangle shape - feel like I get a much better grip on it than the standard or teardrop shapes.

Mostly I use Clayton Delrin .73 or .88 - they never snap & are long wearing.  Also have some in Acetal 1.26mm to bludgeon my 13-62 strung drop-Bb tuned V with :)

Thinking of moving up to 1mm ones for my standard tuned guitars, but I still have a huge bag of .73s left...

Hell no, smaller =  small contact area = faster and better contact

Jazz 3 = Poo, used to use them back in my shredding days but grew sick of them for rhythm - did get a load of mates onto them though.

Now - Dunlop Green Tortex - thick enough for riffage and flexible enough for solos.  Lots of people here seem to be complaining about them wearing out, I smack my strings really hard live/practice/recording and I've never had one wear down on me....

....then again, I've never owned one for more than a week!
