just swapped a few BK's...

had my MM in my LP Custom/ a HD in a Jackson Phil Collen pc-1-while both sounded killer, I wanted a little more low end growl in my paul...swapped them over last night and...HELL-O!!!wow!!subtle difference, yet it is the correct move for me-my paul sounds more like a Paul now, and the MM is purrrfect for the PC-the ceramic just seems more balanced in the PC-I now have rebs in a Paul Standard, which is my all arounder....my Custom has the HD(very close to the Rebels...killer pinch harms...my Paul for the more extreme stuff),and the MM Jack for metal ripping...
next up-some single coils for my strat-I have some Kinmans in it now(bought way before I experienced BK's..)I will be looking for some to nail that vintage Strat blues tone..the ones I have now are the Hendrix models..looking to cool the engines somewhat....this is fun!

Glad you liked the swap Shaman, it is all about combining and matching, Thought you might have been doing some "Yopo" initiation with the Yanomamis in South America. For a vintage strat sound I can recommend the Apaches (stock wound for a more accurate vintage sound), and yes they do Hendrix Sir. Cheers!

Good to see that you are having fun with the 'Paul. As for the Strat, I can endorse the Apaches for great blues tone.I lent my Strat to a friend who is a very fussy (tone wise) blues player and he was beaming all through the gig and bought himself a set straight after.

Mother's Milk for that tone - don't listen to the Apache gang (oh! I have some myself - oops) - either one would be good  :D

It's really is cool to take a beloved pickup and see it have new life in a different guitar. Sometimes swapping the pickups from one guitar to another is more successful in others, in terms of chasing down that 'dream tone', but it's always interesting!

Yep, that's about what I said when I put an HD set in my Vintage Burst LP.  It has some serious "chunk" :)
