Crawler clips

Crawler set in a Les Paul Studio. Very pleased with them. Good work, Tim and everyone at BKP.

Now these are by no means songs. It's just clips of chords, riffs and largely improvied melody-lines. You know, clips. I'll be doing something to a backing track later (maybe tomorrow).

Disclaimer: My recording skills suck. I just can't get it to sound the same as in the room.

Clean (everything fingerpicked): One thing I liked about my orginal pickups was the chimey cleans they had. The Crawlers have a similar chime on the attack, but gets really warm when you let them sustain.

Clean with overdriven solo: Much more "sing" on the OD, huuuuuge kick in the mids (that AWW sound). A real pleasure to play.

Metal: I like the core tone here. Saturated and ballsy but still lets every playing nuance through. I wish I could get rid of that fuzz though. Oh well, that's what you get when you keep an AVT.

Chords on the Spanish, overdriven solo: Attempting to be Al di Meola. Sloppy playing though, but oh well. Great day for tone, not the best day for chops. I did 3 takes of this one and decided to save them all. Have your pick. (no 2 is best IMO)

Thankees.

I've been playing them a lot and I like them more and more. That's how you know it's good gear.

Hey fella, as a fellow crawler it's nice to see some new clips :)

I liked the overdrive sounds the best personally, the 'metal' one sounded a bit thin  -as you say, its hard to capture the sound in the room.

Some really nice chops in there as well - ive left the spanish one (number 2) running in repeat mode while I have written this and think there's a lot of nice stuff in there, but it does waver away from the backing a little at times which kind of throws it, but I'm sure thats cos as you say, these were kind of test runs..so look forward to the next clip! :)

Thanks kevin.

Yea the metal tone does leave something to be desired. Some of it is definitely the recording quality, another thing is if I turn the gain past 4, it's way too buzzy for me to enjoy. Can't wait to move out of Marshall country.

I was gomnna have another listen to the metal clip but sendpsace seems to have an error. Odd you have that problem with te amp - ive no experience of an AVT, but I love my JCM800..so don't give up on marshall just yet :)

Hehe, nah I know. Comparing an AVT to a JCM800 is like comparing a rubber band around a tin to a Stratovarius. It's not the Marshall sound in itself I don't like, it's the price it takes to get a good one with the Marshall name on the head, and you might even wanna pay extra to get it modded. That's why I'd rather go for a Carvin or perhaps Laney that has that sound but cheaper.

Yea, and I tried to use the service provided by this forum, but it didn't work. That's why I used sendspace in the first place.

Edit: Tried again with 3 of them.
