Me Wantee Effects (wah or chorus)

Howdie, again I turn to you sexy people to give me inspiration and guidance about all things guitar related.

I only play with distortion, got a Big Muff and a HM-2 and that's it. I'm wanting something exotic, paid for by my apprehensive girlfriend.

So what should I go for? Thinking of maybe a chorus pedal, possibly a delay, probably not a flanger/phaser. Tempted by a wah though.

Looking for something that's hard to overuse, so thinking about a wah or a chorus. Played with wahs before, not so much chorus.
 
Also budget, no more than £70 really. Limits things a little. Also be nice if it could be powered alongside the Boss pedals, I modded my Muff for this and don't exactly want to have to do the same.

Delays are always fun to play with so I reckon getting one of them would be a good idea. I think Chorus and Wah are the easiest to leave on / always fiddle with.

The wah sweep can be useful for accentuating notes, but I find that my foot stays on it. can cover up a bit of sloppiness (good or bad ? )

I would only recomend chorus for clean, or unless you wanted to fatten up your sound a bit at times. Then again, saw Ozzy live, and now dislike chorus too!

I would advise a delay, but they start at £100 ish for the Boss?

Get an Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo - its a great budget delay - has between 30ms and 2s delay and a hi fi/lo fi mode for modern to vintage or garage sounds.  Definitely a killer with a Muff.

Hmmm I'm now tempted by the Ibanez DE7, shame cos I was leaning towards a Vox wah... Damn you all. Shall try to find a stockist in Glasgow soon.

I'm not really a fan of chorus, so that option would be out (imo).

Wah's have lots of uses - plenty mileage there.

Delays - I get bored with them after five minutes, I much prefer a nice reverb pedal.

Tremolo - great effect, I use this ALOT and it's great clean or dirty.

Phaser - I love Phase 45s, just a great effect to add some movement to your tone.

Compressors - very underated imo, from spanky clean tones to fattening up your solos.

Delays are good to play around with but as HTH says you will be bored of it in 5 minutes when you realize you have used all the settings.
Unless you need it for your music then i'd go for a different effect which you need/will use regularly, i'd say this goes for all of those kind of effects (delay chorus, phaser, etc.), for instance i bought a chorus pedal because i liked the 80's sound of it but i don't use chorus in my music really (or for anything else i play now really) so i have no use for it, and it just takes up space.
Unless you have lots of money, in which case buy them all :P haha.

I recently sold my wah on eBay, and I'm tempted to pick up a 'proper' one (offloaded a modelling Boss WH-10, not amazing).

Big question; Vox, Crybaby or Morley?

Baring in mind that I like the sound of a 'classic' wah; i.e. Hendrix, Clapton, Hazel etc.

And thinking about an  EH Nano Clone, anyone got any experiences of the EH Nano range?

The MXR Stereo Chorus is immense, absolute chorus perfection. Other than that, try a second hand Boss CE-2 off ebay.

As for delay, the Boss DD-2 is a class act.

The pedal least hard to get tired of is a compressor - probably because you don't really notice it  after a while :D

I think a chorus is a relatively limited thing unless your doing 80s stuff or Stone Roses indie - once you've played a bit of Nirvana it gets a bit tiring.

A wah, however, is tremendous fun.

I have a Vox V847 which was true bypass modded when I got it so it doesnt suck all the treble out of my sound when its off. Sounds great - it goes wah, what else do you need?! Was only £56 or something from ebay. I may eventually do some mods as found on wah-wah.co.uk, just out of curiosity really.

I'd say the exact opposite - they're far too overused in modern music. It's all about old-skool dynamics
