That's very nice mate! But you didn't said which pickups are you planning to use...
You should show at least of pic of your female friends to people like even better Norway!
-
I frankly commend you for even being able to afford them these days.
Me + Prices = FML.
-
that is an impressive top

The reason I started this project, was actually because I was bored.
And whenever I'm bored, I go to the warmoth page and start putting parts for a new guitar in the shopping cart.
I wasn't actually going to buy it - but I did.
Now I'm living on noodles and water until I get my salary in a week. FML!

I think I'm going to go for:
Apache
Apache
Stormy Monday or Crawler
And for the chick-picture request of yours.

I do that too (not the noodles bit...)
The difference is, I never get round to actually building my Warmoth guitars. :?
Looks good! I like the Vintage Modern necks too, but never tried the Boatneck contour.
-
Very nice top!

The boatneck takes up slightly more space when stored under the bed Philly so you might feel it doesn't fit into your collection...

Good point....

Hooray for all things stratocaster shaped
except Squiers, obviously

Cheeky. :)
I just took delivery of a Clapton back contour Tele neck for my new Telemaster project (http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=22363.0) and that's quite an interesting profile. If you run your finger across the back it feels quite sharp, certainly sharper than the soft V of a Fender Roadworn say, but it feels very nice when you hold it in the playing position. For me it's a nice mixture between the standard Warmoth skinny-ish contour and the under-bed storage compromising boat neck.
Back to the original poster, I think the ebony will look great with that Strat body: very nice indeed. I imagine Apaches would sound very good with ebony too. I love them in my maple boarded Strat.

All the Warmoth necks in my under-the-bed* collection are '59 Roundbacks. I don't like skinny necks or V necks and I've never been brave enough to try the Fatback, the '59 feels about right to me.
(* they're not really under the bed, that space is full of untouched-for-decades old guitars  )

LMAO gwem, made my day.
-
Lovely top on that strat. It should be a gem when it's finished. Well worth a month noodles. Nice chick!

Christmas comin' early this year!
I got a box.

I am completely satisfied with the body! It's seriously fabulomazing!
Can't wait for the neck and the rest of the parts arrive in a couple of weeks!

There are so many of those boxes in my house.
Looks good. And I love a bit of pearloid.
-
Looking good- I look forward to the finished guitar.
-
Lovely! :D
-
Seriously nice looking body. Or as you probably say in Norway: Kjämpe bra!
I might have picked another pickguard though.
-
I'm ordering a couple of different pickguards next week.
These are what I have in mind.
Vintage Pearl
Black Pearl
White/Black/White
I'll have only volume, tone and 5way on those - and replace the second tone pot with a DPDT on-on switch for splitting the humbucker. And I might add a on-on-on for neck + humbucker or neck+ bridge coil.
-
And for the chick-picture request of yours.

More like it!
Who wants to see the guitar pics when you can get that????!!

^ +1
more pix of the bird, less of the guitar
the guitar does look nice though, a bit bling for me, but nice all the same.
-
Warmoth really skimps on their packaging though. Considering the price of the higher end stuff, they could at least package it well.
-

I have now ordered the Crawler and 2x MM for this one.
Warmoth told me that the neck was probably ready to ship in 3 to 4 weeks.
And I think BKP will ship my pickups tomorrow or monday.
Looking forward to have a new guitar finished in the beginning of 2011!
-
That's great, dude! It's all anticipation from here! Hope she sings for you.
-
I decided to assemble the pickguard with whatever parts I had. The pots and knobs is actually reliced parts that is supposed to go on my vintage 50's strat project. The relicing doesn't show well in the pictures, but they look awesome in real life.
This is a white pearl pickguard. I'm replacing it with a vintage pearl pickguard because I think the white one looks too shiny, and it's kinda cold. The vintage one will look warmer, and it'll certainly fit better with the vintage tint neck too.
I'm only waiting for my bare knuckle pickups to show up, so that I can start soldering everything together.
The vintage pearl pickguard is actually drilled for master volume, master tone - and a DPDT switch for coilsplit.
-
You will love the Crawler in your strat, fits your playing style.
-
I'm excited!
They should arrive tomorrow. They've been in norway for five days, and the postal services here are slow as a toyota prius!
-
That top is absolutely stunning. Thank you for changing my mind on finishes :p
-
That looks really good, man. What are you thinking you're gonna do for hardware color?
-

I do hope chrome or nickel, gold will make the guitar too posh, at least for my taste.
-
Chrome it is!
I don't like gold hardware at all. Gold COULD look good, but only on certain guitars with cerain finishes.
-

Your absolute right. On my superstrat were gold parts. I brushed all the plating of and it looks ten times better.
-
That's a beauty!
What pickups are those? Do you have any soundclips?
Update on my project:
1. Warmoth is still working on my neck.
2. Warmoth ships the vintage pearl pickguard and other parts tomorrow.
3. The norwegian customs are terrible. They've had my pickups for four days, and still havent sent them to me. Reason? Who knows... It wasn't a nailBOMB or something...
-
The strat (MXG, build by Patrick Eggle in conjunction with Maxguitars in The Hague Holland) is loaded with a Crawler and Irish Tours. I fitted a Fender rollerbridge and Sperzel lockingtuners for tremstability. It's very light: swampash with an exotic cocobolo-top (at least I'm told it's this wood), maple neck, eboney fingerboard with fallen leaves-inlay.
I will post some clips as soon as I got some gear to record properly. The micro in my NokiaN95 can't handle my Orange Rockerverb on rocking volume.
Hope you receive your parts soon. This fancy lady needs to be finished (I'm not referring to YOUR lady ).
-
Sounds like a very nice piece of guitar!
Well, I called the norwegian customs, and they told me that they needed some information to declare the package.
I gave them the information two days ago - and the tracking shows that my parts are at the customs still...
This is norway - ladies for everyone!
-
It's my fav guitar on stage, bec sometimes we're playing 4 sets (more then three hours) and then it's nice you don't have too much weight hanging on your shoulder.
This is norway - ladies for everyone
Well I should plan a holiday in Norway then... :D
-
I've been wanting to build a Warmoth as well. It won't be for probably another year or so though. I'm really getting it on with the scalloped neck on my Yngwie Strat, so I'm thinking I will start going scalloped all the way.
I know this is kind of a backhanded question, but how would a well built Warmoth with very good parts (electronics, pups, bridge, ect.) hold up in quality to that of a Suhr??
-
I know this is kind of a backhanded question, but how would a well built Warmoth with very good parts (electronics, pups, bridge, ect.) hold up in quality to that of a Suhr??
In terms of parts and materials, it will be every bit as good (with the usual caveat that you never know exactly how a thing made of something as variable as wood is going to sound until it's built!). Suhr mostly use standard parts (e.g. Gotoh hardware) so you can get exactly the same parts, if you want.
The "magic" is in how well it's put together. A Warmoth neck is playable straight out of the box, but it's not perfect. The nut, fretwork, fretboard edges, general setup - those are the things which really make a good guitar feel like a great guitar.
-
As mentioned earlier, it depends on how it is assembled and how it is set up.
And when it comes to quality of parts, I'd say it's the same as suhr, tom anderson, don grosh etc, if not better in some cases.
-
Well, I finally got the customs to declare the pickups, and have them send them to me. Well... it only took them NINE days... gah!
-
Seeing how I can get exactly what I want from Warmoth and have it professionally assembled/set-up for about 60% of what I would pay for a Suhr, I think the Warmoth might be a good idea for my next guitar... But, the real chitty thing is the resale value. Suhr's hold their value quite well, as to where I would be lucky to pocket 40% of what I pay for the Warmoth... Hmmm...
-
That's why you have to plan the project over some time. Find out what you want, and how you want it to sound.
-

If it does come to a sale, dismantle it and sell it as parts - you'll make more money that way.
-
I recieved parts from warmoth today, and I should have the pickups by tomorrow.
I compared the white pearloid pickguard and the vintage pearloid pickguard - and it was easy to decide which one of them to use.
Sorry for the bad pics, but here they are:
White Pearloid
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1234.snc4/156633_10150107609265288_564445287_7913279_4139392_n.jpg)
Vintage Pearloid
The difference doesn't show very well, but in real life, the vintage looks warmer and more alive compared to the freezing white pearl.
I will have different volume and tone knobs than in the pics. I have ordered Chrome barrel knobs. They will arrive with the neck, and the rest of the parts in a couple of weeks.
I got the shielding done today as well. I'm not finished with it in this pic though.
I drilled a hole for the DPDT switch. I wasn't sure whether I was going to go with Volume-DPDT-Tone or Volum-Tone-DPDT. But i think I did the right descision going with this sollution. (v-t-dpdt)
Doing it like this keeps the switch out of the way - and provides easier access to the tone, which I'm more likely is going to use more often than the dpdt.
I'm very pleased with the looks and apperance of the guitar. I can't wait to see it finished - and I can't wait to play it and hear what it sounds like!
-
I like the Vintage Pearl, it goes much better with the maple "binding".
-
True. I think it'll look awesome with the vintage tint neck as well!
-
The vintage perloid looks better in every respect. More harmony in colours. Matches the flamed top better. Somehow looks more classy too.
-
I got mail from warmoth just five minutes ago.
"It looks like your neck got through finish a little ahead of schedule....Surprise!!
We hope you enjoy the neck my friend.
Thanks for writing."
Oh, how I love warmoth!
I will have it assembled before the weekend!
-
These guys rock! :)
-
I like the Vintage Pearl, it goes much better with the maple "binding".
I think it looks great. I don't normally like 'flashy' strats but this one looks good to me.
-
Pickups showed up today - neck shows up tomorrow!
Some pics!
I think the white pups looks great with the vintage pearl. The contrast gives some kind of vintage modern feel!
Sorry for the bad quality pics!

I kinda decided to go with the classic strat knobs as well. They looked sweet on there!
Change in plans regarding the neck.
The postal services around the world was able to have the neck sent from Washington to Norway in 19 hours. SUPER FAST!
BUT... the norwegian postal services is sooooo sloooooow! They declared the package this morning, but they haven't been able to pull their thumbs out of their a*ses and send it to me, so that I could have it before the weekend.
Guess what. It's the same f*in i*iots that had my pickups in "custody" for NINE days!
AAARGH!
-
Cool!!
-
Way cool man. A beauty! Jeeeeaaalous
-
I bet they're playin hockey with it. :D
Just kidding around, I know the wait sucks. Pretty soon you'll have an exceptional guitar.
-
haha, I hope not! lol
When the guitar is done - I'll write a song. And the name of the song is going to be "Norwegian postal service SUCK"
