i enjoy the nailbomb that i have in my alder/maple/rosewood strat, but not as much as i was expecting. sounds like it would be a bit better in an LP or something. anyway. i didnt look much at the p90s but holy cr@p the clips for the stockholm sound exactly what i'm looking for. the nailbomb doesnt quite have the bottom end i was expecting. i probably just didnt pair the right guitar with the right pickup. but i think this could be the one...
i couldnt find a single thing on youtube and only a couple threads on here. just curious what people think.
-
Most P90's do very well in strats. I think the Stockholm's voicing will make your strat sound big and punchy.

Yeah, that should hold totally true.
P90s are wonderful things. Their character lets them be placed in just about anything. Put em in a strat, tele or the likes and the SC qualitys get enhanded, put em in a LP and you got the extra highs and lows work wonders with the middy LPs.
Really they work in everything. In different ways and still all so great.
Especially the more modern p90s should sit wonderfully with strats for metal styles and I can absolutly see the SH kill in one. Big and punchy as Telerocker said while having that lovely SC string definition and a great cutting attack. Add to that the P90 growl in the mids. Really a lot of weight and force behind that low end, but with a definition you can not quite find in HBs.
Maybe you can elaborate on what about the NBs bottom end is not to your liking.

the nailbomb is just too bright for the guitar its in. i mean, brightness is fine but its a bit more than i'd like. and from what i hear from the clips for the stockholm its just what i want. definitely looking for a heavy punch for stuff like Muse's harder jams and such. not necessarily metal but something thats going to fit it well. i've never played a p90 before and i've been playing for 10 years. so i'm surprised how much i like the idea of this pickup. i definitely want a big sound but not brutal or anything. so i think this may be the best choice. i'm also sort of debating if i should try them in my les paul too. i've pretty much decided on doin rebel yells in the LP but this stockholm blew me away. not sure yet... but now i'm really excited.

P90s deffo are amazing. Such a shame they are so overlooked.
Just the way you can take them from absolute screaming to sweet singing is so great.
If you are not looking for metal the Stockholm is still pretty darn amazing. Love playing Blink 182 with it too. Distinct modern rock voice with a great growl, power (output, hotness and just power you feel) and clarity. Plus that amazing cut.
Depeding on how dark you want it the Supermassive is still in the running too. Like the SH but less hot and less bass.
I can unfortunentally not compare the brightness to the NB, you might just have to ask the BKP guys about that directly.
As I said I feel like you can put P90s in both strats and LPs, but different qualitys will end up in focus. In a strat it will beef things up and the base SC character will stick out a little more, while in a LP you get a very fat (yet clear) and generally more balanced sound. P90s do a wonderful job of cutting through big chunks of mahagony but still donīt tend to be too shrill in Maple by default.
-
I think Nailbombs suit heavier mahogany Gibsons like Les Pauls, Explorers, and maybe Flying Vs pretty well. They would also work well in other similarly dark guitars like a lot of the ESPs. Interestingly though some - I think felineguitars here - have said that it needs a bright guitar. It might be that your guitar is middy, and that tends toward mid-overload with this pickup, which accentuates it aggressive, hairy character. I'm assuming this is the alnico version - by all accounts this is less so with the ceramic. I have to say though that the clip of you playing punk stuff with the A-Bomb is pretty sweet, but then again punk and hardcore is pretty much the A-Bomb's domain.
That said the Rebel Yell bridge is closely related to the A-bomb but with less mids, especially the low-mids, and I think a more symmetrical winding, which makes it smoother. Apparently the latter is a big part of its 'aggressive' sound, which is its big selling point but maybe not what you really wanted. The RY seems to be sweeter. But you might want to try it in your LP as even if you don't like it there it will give you a benchmark from which you can easily tell whether the differences between it and the RY on the clips at BKP will be going in the direction you want. In terms of general character though the A-bomb is more Sepultura and the RY more Ratt.
I don't know much about P90s except that even the stock Gibson ones sound sweet in an SG, much better than the 490/498 sets that the Standards come with these days.
I should add that I definitely have no plans to get rid of my A-Bomb. That thing RIPS for hardcore and punk. In fact I want to put it another SG, but just not paired with the Cold Sweat neck. Either by itself or with a Nailbomb neck. If you think it sounded okay playing that Green Day stuff try playing some Exploited or Poison Idea with it! It is PERFECT for that sound, at least in an SG. That said I think of it as a bit of a one-trick pony in an SG, not great at playing less aggressive, raw sounding styles, but what a trick!
-
I can only really agree with what's been said here. I tried an A-Bomb too and found that the upper mids were dominating, making it extremely aggressive, edgy and hairy sounding. No doubt putting it in a middy guitar didn't help but I came to the same conclusion that it needed to be in a guitar with more mahogany like a Les Paul.
P90 pickups are very rarely talked about that's for sure. I've been a member of this forum for a while now and I can only recall a handful of threads about P90 pups. This is reflected in Kiichi's excellent review thread that features virtually no P90 reviews. I would urge anyone who has had experience of any of the P90 pickups to please submit a detailed review.
-
i did think about the supermassive pickup as well, but i think i'd rather stick with the stockholm incase somewhere down the line i want to throw it into another guitar without having to route it. plus it says the stockholm has some more output which is a plus for me.
and about the rebel yells, those would be going in a very different guitar anyway. (LP) and everyone including the bkp staff say its what i'm looking for. so i'll trust them all and give it a shot. i went for the nailbomb on a whim when no one suggested it for what i was looking for.

It's also short of Telecaster pickup reviews. The only single coils that are well-represented are the Strat ones, probably because a lot of people have them in Super Strat guitars by manufacturers other than Fender, whereas Telecaster pickups are very much a Fender thing (and a specific guitar at that) and P90s are very much a Gibson thing (most often SGs).

yeah when i was younger i always steered away from the p90 gibsons. not sure why. never really knew what they were even capable of.

You should try an SG some day, great guitar, although that said it might take you a while to get used to the neck, which has a 12" radius. I find Strats interesting but I am put off by the rounder fretboard, although there is one signature model that apparently has a 12" radius like a Gibson. I like the thinner profile necks like the C shape and '60s profile necks, but it's what you get used to. A lot of the more recent SGs (especially the cheaper ones like the Faded) have '50s style necks which feel more 'Fender' to me.
-
I think you should give the sinner some thought too mate.
I wouldnt go for the rebel yell if you didnt like the nailbomb its like its less angry relative with less bottom end too. I always thought the nailbomb in a thin 'proper strat' probably wouldnt work for the heavy bottom end.....ill trust your judgement.
-
The Sinner is brutal sounding.

Much prefer them to the trilogy suite in general never heard the middle position one much though but meh....the neck is very different to any thing ive heard by a long way
-
Stock wound or RWRP? I think I would definitely go stock. In for a penny, in for a pound I believe is the relevant British saying here ...

i've had 2 SGs over the last 10 years. both gibson standards. and i love the way they play and feel but they were just unreliable. i couldnt get either of them to ever stay in tune. i tried everything. so i just gave up. besides, i prefer strats mostly these days anyway. you really think i wouldnt like the RY? and i've definitely given the sinner thought. maybe somewhere down the line but obviously i'd need a humbucker in the LP. maybe the stockholm in that one. i dont know.
-
I think youd like the rebel yell its fantastic but not in a strat i mean. If the nailbomb didnt deliver the bass the rebel yell will be even worse.
In a les paul it sounds great
-
I think youd like the rebel yell its fantastic but not in strat i mean
yeah exactly. i bet i'd like the nailbomb more in an LP than a strat but i want to try something different. people say the RY is the way to go for what i asked for. from people on the forum to ben with bkp. but i think the stockholm might be the way to go in the strat. the sinner would be one i'd like too i think but as lame as it sounds, i have 3 strats, all with one humbucker and one volume knob and i like it like that. i have my LP and 335 for versatility i guess. but i definitely gave thought to a sinner strat

Im sorry im confusing my self here! People have recommended the rebel yell in a strat or a les paul?
-
they recommended the RY in my les paul.
when i was originally looking for a pickup for this strat, i was told that i should go with the holy diver. but last minute i heard some nailbomb clips that made me think it was the one for me. but it wasnt quite for me. maybe the holy diver would do good for the strat but i think the stockholm would suit it better plus i want to try something new.

It was most likely the nut. The culprit is usually the G-string, and it is caused by the combination of a rather thin neck (which flexes as you tune other strings, making tuning more onerous) and the angle at which the strings go from the nut to the tuning pegs. A lot of people change tuners and wonder why it is still out of tune, when the problem is the nut. I found that my original set of strings stayed in tune well, but when I changed them the new ones did not. I asked the local tech about this and he pointed out that Gibson set them up with a nut lubricant, and that I would need to lubricate the nut every string change. So I bought some Big Bends Nut Sauce, reputed to be the best nut lubricant on the market. I only changed the strings last night we'll see how that goes!
A friend of mine has the same problem with a Les Paul. The D string is almost as bad.
RYs for Les Pauls.
No idea on the best humbucker for a Strat. Personally I would go with a single coil, either P90 or Fender type

Yeah the nut may have been my issue as well. Oh well. They are long gone. But my les Paul stays I'm tune fairly Well. Gah. I have so many things I want to do but I'm unable to do them right now because I'm waiting for my tele and some pedals to sell
-
I wouldn't be surprised to find that the SGs and LPs with thicker necks stay in tune better than the '60s profile ones, just because a change in string tension (from the string eventually easing into its proper spot after you tune it) is more likely to twist the neck slightly and throw the others out of tune. If your LP has a chubby neck that might be the difference.
Personally I hate thick necks on guitars, and avoid the '50s style necks like the plague. The neck on my Explorer is fat enough for me ... once you get used to the '60s neck on an SG you don't want anything else. That said, I've heard guys rave about their baseball bat necks on their Teles, about how lucky they were to get one with that neck etc. Horses for courses
-
my LP is actually a 60s neck. its a les paul classic which was discontinued but from what i remember, they gave the 50s or 60s neck option. i've always wanted to try the 50s neck though. i hate very thin necks but i've never tried a BIG one that i know of. i used to have a gibson explorer standard but i dont remember what neck it had on it. but i liked it a lot.
-
I don't like the thin but wide necks. I found the SG neck a bit hard to get used to after the Explorer, but then I quickly started to prefer it. My Explorer has a thicker neck than the SG and is maybe wider at the nut. It's not a thick neck though, probably more like what you have on your Les Paul.
-
Sorry I misunderstood the rebel yell will sound fantastic in a les paul but its highly likely it wouldnt sound any good at all in a strat as i was saying.
Only other thing I can suggest based on what youve said is the crawler then but im basing my opnion on other peoples comments and clips.
-
Yeah the crawler is What originally drew me to bare knuckle. A guy on YouTube named matt gear has an hh strat with crawlers and they sound amazing
-
maybe i'm a bit late on the thread but anyways..
If you think the stockolm is too much for you, and you still need a HS p90, I beleave you can ask Tim to make a Supermassive as a HS p90... A friend of mine has a Sotckolm as a regular p90 and he said they can do the other way as well... I think the supermassive has a bit less gain, but the bottom end is fuller and more defined. Kinda a polished stockolm for that to say... they are VERY close sounding though.
I'm intending to build a custom jazzmaster/telemaster guitar with 2 Supermassives on it... I want to get that modern grunge rock tones such as early soundgarden, mudhoney and even rage against the machine... I think the SM does it in spades.
-
i definitely want something thats still high output. so i bet the stockholm will be fine the way it is.
i havent decided if i will make it an HSS setup or not but if i did, which single coils would you guys suggest? i definitely want to stay modern sounding.
-

Trilogies will make it a balanced set.
-
yeah i asked tim the same thing and he also mentioned the TS. just curious. why the TS and not the sinners?
-
I think Tim would probably only recommend the Sinners to go with something like the Miracle Man.
Personally if I were to go for Sinners I would just change the pickguard (you can get wired pickguards with pickups from BKP) in a SSS configuration with a full set of stock-wound Sinners with baseplates. The Sinner bridge is a brutal sounding single coil.
-
yeah not a bad idea. i still think the stockholm is a must for me though so i'll just go with the trilogys if i decide on the hss
-
also, i'm going to see if they'd be willing to do an HSS set prewired for me but with the stockholm and 2 trilogy suites. its not one of the "sets" available so i'll have to see what they say. but that would be awesome if they could.
-
Worth checking.
You might also want to look into a good noise gate while you are at it, if you don't already have one! Apparently the one I've got (ISP Decimator G-String) handles the 60 cycle hum of single coils pretty well. I dare say the hotter you go the more noises you have to deal with, especially if you have a 'metal' amp. It cuts out pretty much all of the awful hiss and other noises that my Peavey makes without it, with the dial set around 11.30-noon
-
thankfully i do have one already
-
and tim said they can definitely do that prewired pickguard for me. so thats awesome. it saves me so much hassle

Thumbs up for the BKP-customerservice.
-
Yeah seriously. Every little thing I've asked for that wasn't a normal request they've been cool about. Really great company

Maybe Tim said TS because they are more P90-esque pickups... with the silver baseplates, they have a fuller low end and more output... The sinners are indeed brutal, but they are darker than TSs...
If you go for hss, it's important to choose well the humbucker.. I'm not sure if the Miracle Man is the way to go in a strat in your case... maybe too scooped... I'd also think about Warpigs with sinners or holydiver with trilogies for an overall versatile tone... the HD/TS combo to me sounds nice.
-
not sure if youre replying to him or me specifically about the HSS but ill be doin the stockholm p90 with the trilogy suites which tim personally recommended
-

That's a nice balanced combo for sure. Of course the P90 is more noisy than a humbucker, but as they're thoroughly waxpotted it should not be excessive. I'm looking forward to your review.
-
yeah plus i have a boss noise suppressor that i've used for years so i'm not worried about any crazy noise. and i'm so glad that they are going to prewire a pickguard for me. i just need to decide on the pickguard and pickup covers

Which colour has the body?
-
its daphne blue (baby blue). it has a white pearl pickgaurd now but its sort of aged so its a little darker which i like. i'm thinking one of these
1. white pearl
2. black pearl
3. black solid
will probably do all black pickup covers

Strats look great in daphne blue with a white or white pearl pickguard. I suggest white covers. Looks so classy.

i thought that too. but the p90 doesnt come with white covers as far as i know
-
You could do it a bit understated but still hot rod, e.g., parchment white single coils and brushed nickel on the P-90, with a tortoiseshell or similar pickguard.
-
yeah i'm still throwin around ideas. i did finally put my burnt chrome a-bomb bridge on ebay. its a great pickup but i feel like i have no use for it at the moment.
-
I miss my A-bomb sometimes ... riffs that sounded good on it don't sound so good on the Cold Sweat, and on the other hand riffs that always sounded wrong on it sound much better on the Cold Sweat. I will keep it and put it in another guitar one day. It definitely has its place. I would never pair it with a Cold Sweat neck again though. Definitely a matching Nailbomb neck if I were to pay for a BKP neck to go with it again, otherwise use a single pickup guitar or leave the stock neck pickup in there, as I rarely use the neck pickup with the style of music (hardcore) that sounds great with the A-bomb. it definitely brings the 'aggro'
-
yeah i know what you mean. i'm surprised i managed to find a buyer for it in less than an hour on ebay. just one step closer to new bkps!

I would ask BKP about that.

yeah i suppose i could, with how helpful they've been with everything else

FINALLY have the funds to make this purchase. i'm pumped! sold my buddy my telecaster so i can go ahead with this one.
but the colors are still what i'm unsure about. hmmm
i definitely want the white pearl pickguard. but im thinking maybe parchment white trilogy suites and maybe a black stockholm. hmm

yeah. i was going to do the white pearl with all black pickups and black knobs but having the blue guitar, chrome hardware and black knobs would look a little weird. i definitely think the parchment white is the way to go but i just have to decide on that P90.

A lot of Suhrs HSS come with white or parchment singlecoilcovers and an open pole black humbucker. Especially in your colour it will look a little more hotrodded then everything white or parchment.
-
yeah. its too bad you cant get p90s open coiled. i can't really imagine what it would look like haha. but i think the parchment, or maybe even cream(which i originally mixed up with the parchment) + a black stockholm is going to be my best bet.
-
If you were using a real P-90 instead of a HSP-90 you could go for the cream plastic cover matching with the single coils, but then you would need a whole new pickguard, routing, and mounts installed.
Have you considered black cover with nickel screws to match black single coils?
-
i've thouhht about the black and nickel but i dont think i'd like black with the white pearl guard... hmm maybe i SHOULD use a black pearl guard. cr@p...
-
Personally with black pickups I'd go for white perloid or tortoiseshell, but I think you and I have different tastes on such matters
-
i think the tortoise shell would look like ass on my baby blue guitar though. but i think i've decided on the black pearl guard. with all black hardware and electronics. but now i'm thinking maybe i can swap out the bridge and input jack to black too. anyone ever use these hipshots? would this fit onto my hardtail strat for the 3 screws that are on there now?

look who arrived! all i need is to order some black hardware and i'm set
-
The black and nickel is a great match with the single coils!
Let us know how it sounds!
My own Stockholm P-90 is on its way somewhere between the UK and Australia ...
-
yeah it looks like installation should be rather easy too
-
Looks mighty fine. I would like to have one like that. :P
-
definitely more of a straty vibe then i expected out of the trilogys. especially with the metal baseplates but they still sound great. and the stockholm is killer. VERY height sensitive. i was kinda bummed at first with the sound, but then i noticed how low the height was. i raised it a bit and it was muuuuch better for my needs.
-
You installed it yourself? Good work! Having the wired guard should have made it all a lot easier
-
Yeah it was very easy. Just had to solder the ground, and Solder to the input Jack and that's it

heres my little review and playthrough. i rambled a lot in the beginning haha sorry. i love that stockholm
-
P90, it's kinda like a humbucker and a single coil making a baby! Brilliant!
Like the bold but clear tones of Stockholm. The TS sound good too. Great rockaxe this way.
-
Yeah man thanks! Check out the little jam I posted in the players section. Shows off the Stockholm much better. I love it
-
Spreading the P90 love! These PUs are often overlooked oh so wrongfully.
-
I probably wouldn't like most stock P90s on les Paul's or sgs but this may be my new favorite pickup.
-
I think it will probably have a slightly raspier sound in my SG Junior.
Of course I have to wait until I can get into the garage again to find out :(

It could be a little more. I'm predicting that it will be a face-melter in that SG Junior through my amp, but I'll have to wait and see. I'm too self-conscious to post videos on youtube. Kudos for doing that, it really helps people wanting to know what stuff sounds like
And, yes, I did watch your video in the other thread, it sounds great

That sounds clear. How many strats do you have? Wish mine has the massive headstock :/

and i love the 70s style headstock too. it came stock on the old Tom Delonge signature fender back in the early 2000s which is what these all are.
the orange one is a warmoth body though with a neck from that delonge model. i love the seymour duncan invader in it even though many people hate that pickup.
the black one has a gibson dirty fingers in it and a few other random things and i'm thinking of putting a BK juggernaut in it. i need a metal guitar!
-
Love the black one, especially the stripe!
Go all the way! Go C-Pig!!!
-
Love the black one, especially the stripe!
is the black one Warmoth as well? They do those stripes. Just being curious.
-
Nope the black one is the production line tom Delonge model. So just a Mexican made fender. I bought it with the stripe on it already though. It's a sticker.
And about the c pig. I love what I hear about the jug. I want something metal but not strictly metal. Not right now anyway
-
I was joking about the C-Pig. Not sure what that would sound like in a Strat. I'd probably be tempted to go with something like a Jackson with a Floyd Rose if I got one of those.
-
Well, so far my Stockholm doesn't sound quite like yours. Not sure if its that little bit of extra output stated on the card (an extra 600Ω or so) compared with the advertised spec or the fact that it is in a standard P-90 housing rather than a HSP90 housing but this is one raucous little beast! The change in weather over the last week or so (combined with the fact that I removed all the strings at once and flipped the guitar over several times while fitting the pickup) seemed to bow the neck (it came from the most humid areas in Australia to one of the driest) so I've just adjusted the truss rod tonight and set the bridge height properly before experimenting with pickup heights. Now I couldn't do it for long as I had already tested the patience of others in the house with the big Peavey (which is quite loud even on lower volumes) for a good while, so I just raised it up some to see how it would react. While I think it does need further adjustment (probably down a bit) this really brought out the pickup's nasty side. This is a very hot pickup! Cleans are not so great through the Peavey (better though than those from the Warpigs) due to the output but boy does this thing have a nasty snarl to it! I'm not hearing the Muse thing at the moment - not that I care, and I was kind of hoping I wouldn't! - but rather a nasty hardcore edge a bit like I got with the A-Bomb (which in a way this guitar replaces) but somehow brighter and more open too. I think a lot of it also has to do with the combination with an SG Junior, which is a light and resonant guitar, but this is a really nasty little thing, capable of any style of hardcore and a lot more besides. I didn't know a P-90 could sound as aggressive and ballsy as this!!
-
Glad you're enjoying it man. I love mine too. I just wish I loved the trilogys
-
So you like it then Agent Orange? You think it is what you are looking for?
Yeah it is nasty alright, it has that very distinct P90 midrange growl which you just canīt find in a HB. Ballsy yeah, P90s are never thin and the SH especially is just on steroids. Love mine. The metal riffing I get out of it is amazing. Tight, defined, super angry and mostl lovely of all has a certain old school edge in there even though the general sound is pretty modern.
How are you finding the definition, especially on the lower strings? That is one of my personal favorite things about P90s.
-
I don't think I have the height right just yet, I might be too close to the strings to get that definition you are talking about Kiichi, but I'll give it some more turns of the screwdriver tomorrow. It's only been in two completely random positions so far. The first, much lower, sounded a bit weak, as you might expect. It was just wherever it ended up when I installed it, and was just done by eye to somewhere that looked vaguely like where the old one sat. Tonight I raised the the bass side three full turns at least and the treble side probably four or five, and it's much more aggressive now but I think could be clearer. I'll try moving it down a little tomorrow. Once I've got it roughly right I'll have a look at the pole pieces, but I'm guessing a 12" radius to match the fretboard would do the trick, or at least serve as a good starting point.
I love aggressive, heavy tones so I'm very happy. The riffing really got an extra kick when I raised the pickup. When I had it lower I found it a bit lacklustre but I knew that it wasn't set properly. I didn't even bother trying to adjust the height until I had a chance to sort the truss rod and bridge out first, because pickup height is always relative to bridge height.
-

What is it you don't like about them?
-
I didn't have to lower it very much.
I'll keep playing and see how I like it where it is now.
Cleans up well by rolling the volume back to 9

I expected them to have more power. I probably should have went with sinners

Fair enough. Shame you missed the returns window then.
-
eh too much of a hassle to send them back anyway. maybe if i lived in the uk i'd consider it

All I can say about this pickup is 'WOW!' I'm having a second-honeymoon with the pink SG Junior since hitting that 'sweet spot' in terms of pickup height. You really do need to be prepared to spend an hour or so fiddling to get it right, but it pays off.
This is my favourite BKP so far, ahead of the Cold Sweat, A-Pig, and A-Bomb. Anyone who plays old school hardcore from the '80s NEEDS this pickup (and preferably an SG to go with it). Definitely better than the A-Bomb, and in fact this pickup just underlines all of the issues I had with the A-Bomb. I had that pickup set so low and with the pole pieces so high in large part just to tone down the annoying mid-range honk it had in my SG Standard. This pickup has all of the aggression of the Nailbomb without the honk and I can put it closer to the strings to get more output from it. A great, great pickup. It doesn't sound as much like the BKP clips as the one in littleredguitars's strat but that might be my playing. It seems much rawer and aggressive than that. The SG Junior is a nasty little thing in stock form by comparison with a Strat but the clips on the BKP site were recorded with an SG so I would have thought it would be closer to those than the Strat is. That said it might just be that I don't know how to get that sound out of it
-
i know how you feel man. i love the stockholm too. i actually bought a new pickguard for my blue stockholm strat and will have it as the single pickup in the guitar. i dont know what it is but i just hate feeling that middle pickup as i'm strumming. it always gets in the way and i'll rarely use it. so i'm actually either going to sell the trilogies or find some use for them somewhere else.
-
Yeah I wouldn't like that middle pickup either.
You should shove it in a Telecaster and add a Piledriver neck pickup. That would probably suit you better. Do you like Teles? I think they can be good as long as you get a modern neck shape and a bridge with six saddles that doesn't have that sharp 'ashtray' lip on it. As you can probably tell I'm not a purist when it comes to Fenders, although I wouldn't mind having a regular Tele with a pair of Piledrivers. I've always liked the idea of a Strat with the three single coils but I think in practice I would be annoyed by the volume knob placement and the middle pickup.
-
Brilliant. Always a relief to hear when a recommendation goes well. Spreading the P90 love around feels especially good. For metal it too is the best PU I have yet tried. The agression, the roar, the fulness, the power, the attack, the tighness....the controll. Modern sound in general but cause it is very much a P90 still you always have that certain throwback in there which I can see how it lends itself great to 80s hardcore. I really like how you describe it as nasty, perfect word. The RY rocks, the Stockholm is nasty. Lets get more one word reviews out there xD

i had one of the blacktop model teles for a while. it was an HH design. it was a nice guitar but i always prefered strats or LPs.

One of my friends here has a MIJ Tele with a dead pickup. I try to encourage him to go for a Piledriver set. We are looking to join this punk band in the city (we both live out in the boonies) so he might get around to it sooner rather than later if that takes off.
Kiichi I'm always happy to add to the one-word review lexicon ;)

if i had a tele with a "normal" configuration i'd definitely throw a piledriver in there as well
