has the ibanez got a 5 peice or 3 peice wizzard neck im reading different facts on the net. And how well will the edge pro stay in tune

The Ibanez RG1570 has a 5pc Wizard maple/walnut neck.

For the rest of this topic. Take Tim's recommendation over any other.

The whole custom guitar decision. You're pretty young, and stereotypically putting it, you don't know what's the best out there. So, in my opinion, I wouldn't go for a custom. For me, I went from a Stratocaster copy (good God those were the bad days) then to my Indie, which in money terms was fair.

Now with current prices your Iommi SG is ~£350
In this topic you're thinking of a custom guitar, which is ~£1500-£2000

Bit much?

The RG1570 is, in my way of thinking, just at the top of the band of guitars that are for you, it is ~£500. However, I think you need to set your standards before picking ideas out of thin air. Yes, the first option is that it has to be left handed but there are Jacksons, Ibanez', Deans, etc.

Prefer thick necks? Thin necks? H-H configuration? H-S-S? There's a lot and I feel you haven't said everything that could be helpful. As well as you commenting on that a longer scale length seems better for you, even though it's 0.75" difference I think neck profile is a bigger issue. Breaking down your first post, it would be:

"I want a guitar for the summer, I'm looking at a Ibanez RG1570L. I want BKPs too."

You'll need to say more. I think you have the EMB (Expensive Means Best) syndrome.

There's my two cents.
"Would you like some lemon oil?"
"Oh, no thanks, I don't eat fruit."

I'm not much older than you. Or in fact you might be older than me but Jeesh I've been through a lot of gear. By the time I was 14 I had already owned a MM Petrucci, Charvel San Dimas, Ibanez rg 550, Fender MIJ strat, Maverick F1 (First Gen) etc... And I ended up with a Custom strat which I would'nt trade for anything.

If I were you I'd wait till LGS and try some stuff out. As Jonny pointed out EMB syndrome does suck ass in reality. If I were you (I've been there) I'd wait till LGS and form your opinions some more.

Do you definatley know what you like? I'd get something cheap and of which you'll have money later on to decide which gear you'd like most. Get something that would keep you off getting something for about a year and then with the left-over money I'd consider a custom and believe me... it is worth it.

If only I had the money at the time of LGS or else I would've bought Feline's BC RICH  PDT_010.

In essence I think time is the best healer(?). If you're definatley sure of what you like then go ahead. But I was hasty and lost about a grand on mistakes through selling.

OK - here is an absolute bargain on ebay from one of the forum members.

It is a lovely guitar and already has a BKP Miracle man in it.
Johnny Mac would love this - but he already has something similar
Somebody here should snap it up.

well im not sure on anything, obviously i will have to try it out. But where i live in order to try out any guitars really i have to pay £40 to cross on the ferry (i live on the isle of wight by the way).

But im posting early (almost 6 months in advance) so i have a long time to get feedback and advice, and also hopefully wont make any hasty decisions. As for pickup config, i woul really want a HSH and as for necks, i dont really mind to be honest. But if you guys could suggest, what you consider good lefty guitars.

Thanks

I wouldn't say there is much of a difference between leftie and a right-handed guitar in terms of quality  :? .

In all honesty I think Jon's Feline would be the best option considering that it is similar to your other choices. Good quality build, the best pickups in my opinion money can buy as well as it's other properties.

Just as an obversation ya know. If you really want a floyd (Get an old Ibanez one  PDT_015 Lo pro edge pro.) than perhaps Jon can fit you one on the Feline if so you decide to choose it.

I'd imagine he built it with an angled neck due to the TOM - I think that affects the idea of installing a Floyd.

Or I might be making it all up.
My last FM.

well how much would it cost for a feline guitar to be made with a a 25.5 scale length, a floyd rose style (low pro or w/e) and no pickups. Or with the one tim recommends, which is warpig a5 in bridge, cold sweat neck and irish tour middle.
