Yes they do, along with the year.

Cheers Shobet - my mistake.  I still reckon the font is wrong/too big on the serial number?

Think i'm gonna go with fake. 3 Hole truss rod cover is usually the easiest way to tell, and it looks as though this one is. Since, as Will said, it isn't screwed on.

Isn't the bridge mounted backwards too?

Are you saying 3 hole truss rod covers are std. on a Gibson? If you are you're talking our of your arse! Gibson use 2 screws, that fake has 2 screws, plus if it was a custom they would more than likely be gold plated. It also looks like the cover was cut out by a blind monkey the more I look at it.

lol, no i mean fakes normally have 3 hole! I read it in a guitar magazine ages ago. It looks like this guy has tried to cover up that fact by using a 2 hole plate.

Agreed, no offence meant. The more I look at that guitar the more it shouts chicken chow mein at me.

Looking at the fretboard, nut and bridge makes me think this is an Epiphone.

I have one of these eastern fakes in my workshop at the moment, anyone that knows LPs will pick them straight away, there are many tell tale signs if you know what your looking for as most have been pointed out previously, the guitar that I have here fooled the last two buyers, only when it was brought to me for a set up was the discovery made! here are a few more findings, the top is almost certain to be a photo top, remove thr truss rod cover to reveal the normal allen head adjuster, Gibson always use a single hex nut, in the case of this one only the top screw of the truss rod cover is screwed into any wood the lower is just there to look right as the wood is routed out for the allen head truss rod adjuster, all pots, pickups and switch are wrong, removing the p/us reveals a bit of a mess too. Be careful when buying something that just does not ring true, if you are worried remove the truss rod cover, it must not have an allen bolt,

I think Dave was being cheeky - hinting that you had posted a reply on the wrong thread - rather than the rigs one you started.

Didnt you use to use rack gear ?
