I bought it with the finish peeling off and with the bridge humbucker rout resembling something done with a salad fork. I sent it to a place called the Guitar Reranch for refinishing, then to a luthier in Baltimore named John Thurston (amazing work) to clean up the original rout and make a space for the neck humbucker. Not sure if the Reranch place is still is business, but I know they had a picture of the body & neck after they refinished it on their website for a while. If I ever get another one, I might do mini-humbuckers for a slightly different sound.

Oh, yeah, and in our class-action suit against PT we'll "settle" for replacing our Melody Makers with two of his originals (dibs on the red one from the Putting It Straight album cover!!!!!!!!!!!!) :lol:

I copied the forward neck-bend from Pat Travers, who mentioned it in an interview in Guitar Player magazine sometime in 1980. I never understood how he got away with it on those thin Melody Maker necks, and I saw him doing it pretty aggressively a couple of times live.

Joe Holmes was a student of Randy Rhoads!

I have in depth Guitar World interview with him somewhere (it includes some actual RR lesson plans)

I also saw him with DLR about 15 Yrs ago. He was ok. (not as good as VAI or Becker)

OK, here's 2 pictures. Not sure if they'll come out clearly, but they are the best my intoxicated-on-a-Monday-night self could do with this damnable camera phone. The pickups are Gibson Tony Iommi humbuckers; the control layout is master tone and 2 volumes. Tuners are Schaller minis (I think), and the nut is an Earvana.

I really like the Earvana nut system.
We have been fitting them for a while now and are really pleased with how well they work.

OK, my turn I guess! Mine is quite different, it hasn't had a refinish or any major structural alterations - but almost all the parts except the scratchplate are non-original (not that I'm bothered really).

At some point the three-on-a-strip plastic button tuners were replaced with individual metal ones. I don't usually like vintage-style tuners but these work really well so they're staying put:

When I bought the guitar it had a Badass bridge like yours, but I replaced it with a Wilkinson, then the "aged" Pigtail it has now. As mentioned earlier, the pickup is a Duncan humbucker disguised as a Melody Maker single-coil (I still have the original one safe):

It's a lovely little guitar, extremely light and resonant. It's nice to own one vintage guitar, but I'm glad it was cheap enough that I'm not afraid to touch it.

OMG Its Geezer! When did he play with the OZZ? I thought it was quite good actualy. Just wish ole' Ozzy could still sing.
