the £800 to £1000 bracket for guitars is a little weird, always seems odd.

agreed. you're kind of at "almost pro" prices- you can save some money and not get very much worse (at least if you know what you're doing), or you can pay a bit more and get much nicer.

Also, a little note, I am not buying this guitar to be an amazing guitar, the best ever, just a good enough guitar which will sound nice for messing around at home with, it won't really be gigged with.

you still might as well get as nice a guitar as you can, though. I only play at home, and I aim to get the best I can for the money. :)

hhmm, just thought, as I will be putting new pickups in it straight away, would the 3 I was looking at (the 2 Ibanez and the LTD) all work with MM? They all have mahogany bodies, so should be easy for me to tell which I like the most when trying them, but don't wanna buy one then for everyone to say "no, MM won't sound nice at all". I would like MM really, as this guitar will pretty much just be purely for metal. :)
