Alot of the LTD range are absolute shitee.

But the 1000 series are truly BRILLIANT guitars imo. Solid, sound great, play beautifully.

hhhmm, I like the Ibanez SZ, as well as the LTD H1000. The charvel's seem nice, but I really don't want a Floyd, well not for a while, anyway. Also, i'm not really a fan of the les paul style shaped guitars, such as the LTD ones with the big curves, well not for this style guitar anyway.

So really, at the moment, it's between the Ibanez SZ, the SZR 720, and the LTD H1000. For some reason, i'm swaying towards one of the Ibanez guitars, although i'm not sure why, because the LTD is better, and looks nice... But would one of the Ibanez guitars sound ok with some Miracle Men? Pigs perhaps?

Also, out of curiosity, I was looking through some pages, and saw that one said "The SZR720 pickups feature Neodymium magnets, the most powerful magnets available for guitar pickups, and are mounted in rosewood rings." Are there any advtantages of having Neodyium magnets? As opposed to Ceramic or Alnicos? Or are they just trying to make them sound better, while not actually being that great.

Also, please note, I am not buying this guitar to EVER be used on anything even vaguely similar to clean. :P

Yeah, I have heard some terrible ones, but i've never heard a 1000 series guitar. Although 90% of the people I know that play metal near me all buy Jacksons for some reason... So my knowledge is limited within the different series and ranges of brands to be honest.

On another, slightly random note, i'm gonna have to find somewhere local that has one, as my local music shop moved, and the Sound Control that was near me, well, I think we all know what happened to them... :P

oh yeah, they're nice guitars, that's not what i'm debating. A local shop was trying to charge £900 for one recently. That's my problem with them...  :? :x

Personally, I feel most guitars that people consider "worth" £900, are alot worse than the H1000, so even though its alot of money for a Korean built guitar, its nothing for such a brilliant guitar.

Hhmm, ok, so I have some good opinions on the H1000, but anyone got any thoughts/opinions on how the Ibanez SZ and SZR fair up? Because i'd like to have a few to try out, incase I don't like the H1000.

The SZ guitars are generally pretty good, but I'd say the pickups would definitely need replacing. They're pretty good guitars, well built, sound good, play nicely, and are pretty, but I've never felt the urge to buy one.

Yeah, well I definitely plan to replace the pickups, I was never in any intention of keeping the stock ones :) If nobody else has tried 'em, I guess i'll just have to try them all out anyway, and see which I like! :P

i disagree. you can near enough get a vigier for £900. legras don't start at much more (at least they didn't when i bought mine), and that's with BKPs. you can get an edwards or a tokai for around the £500-£600 mark (granted, at least in the case of the tokais, you're talking vintage copies rather than modern-style guitars).

I dunno. A lot of the korean-built guitars seem to have a really thick finish and feel a bit "plasticky" to me. Though granted the 1000 series LTDs are towards the top of korean guitars in terms of quality. I'd still rather have a washburn though (if that were the type of guitar i were after)... they're around half the price, if not less.

As far as I know, Vigier are £1400 and upwards, and most customs aren't close to £900.

When I'm talking guitars people "consider worth around £900", I mean things like RG2620, Les Paul Studio, Jackson DK3, that sort of stuff. Personally I feel the LTD Deluxe series has an example better than all those mentioned (eclipse > studio etc).

i know.

I base my value on how much things cost other places too... those LTD 100s go for around the equivalent of £400 in the states, so £900 here means that they aren't all that great value.

also, plenty of customs start around the £1000 mark, as long as you don't pimp it out with exotic woods etc. and factor in a pickup swap to those LTDs and you're talking more like £1100. :)

LP Studios retail at below £700 at many places, as does the RG2620 as far as I know. (DK3 discontinued I think?).

the £800 to £1000 bracket for guitars is a little weird, always seems odd. In Gibson's case, they recommend that price for a studio, but a used Standard often falls within that bracket.

I suggest my favorite guitar that I have, the Jackson SLSMG:

I got a hell of a deal on this one from ebay so try looking around for one.  8)

oohh, Jackson SLSMG, i've played on one of them, it was nice :)

Also, a little note, I am not buying this guitar to be an amazing guitar, the best ever, just a good enough guitar which will sound nice for messing around at home with, it won't really be gigged with.

Random thought, are Jackson RR5s any good? They look great, and don't have EMGs, meaning easier to put BKPs in... :) Although at that price there's gonna be a lot more competition, and i'm sure you could probably get something nicer for the price.
