edit: but MDV has beat me :(

Not in speed, though!

I can play faster, but the fastest I've actually clocked myself is 23nps. Fastest I've recorded anything with multi-tracking (with my obsessive attentiveness to presicion) is 270bpm, so the same as wintersun.

Edit: quite welcome, Phil.

And the right notes >>>>> the most notes, every time. Even a metal freak like me knows this!
Quite right.
David Gilmour (i think I got his name right that time) is the GOD of all us real serious benders  .
I too use chicken as a measurement.

To me, that tone reminds me of a nailbomb and/or miracle man
but, since i never played a warpig or miracle man, i canŽt comment.

Hails MDV, then, from what you said,  i think iŽll have to do a Custom shop set from BKP.

Yes. And its a bit of a process of elimiation.

The tone is dark and thick, with tight punchy bass. I'd tend toward an A5 magnet for those highs, but you'd need the tightest of playing to get A5 to sound that tight. So it goes like this:

Miracle man: tight enough, but the resonant peaks too high, and it has too much treble.

PK: Too middy by far.

Warpig: would tdo the high end og that perfectly, but that doesnt seem to be what youre interested in.

Ceramic pig: works. Sharper sound than that, but overall the best fit.

Heavy PMing would allow the A5 pig to dot the job the best, but I'm assuming a more standard issue technique on your part, rightly or wrongly. Dont be offended! I dont know how you play, I just know how the pickups sound.

That really punchy palm muting comes also from multi-tracking those bits during recording, and being incredibly precise; i wouldn't be surprised if there were upwards of 4 tracks for the mutes. I think Jari also used a Jackson too for the rhythm bits :)

Warpig of some descript for that tone though :)

I doubt that mix can make it THAT punchy. In that case pantera would sound super mega punchy. :D
I wish women were like pickups - if they lack output, you sell them... or ask Tim to rewind them :D

I think hes right. That sounds to me like a low gain sound thats been layered quite a lot. If the gains too high, then it sounds less punchy and more saturated. To maintain that punch and definition you keep the gain pretty low and layer up.

That doesnt change the basic character of the sound, though.

Could be. But I still think its the telecaster. It would be great if someone with tele could check this out.
