"Bacchus" guitars?

My '65 Epi SG was the only one in the shop, and I compared it to a Gibson Standard, a Gibson Faded and a regular Epi SG 400.  It was much nicer throughout than the faded Gibson, and was of a similar standard to the USA Standard.  The regular G400 felt a little bit cheap and gad poorly matched body wood sections, but I've played others since that were much nicer.

I'd say the Epi SGs and the Faded Gibsons have the same problem - you have to shop around to find a good one.

Why not go for a Korean Tokai as I bet they'll all be excellent???

Mmmmm cheap as chips! :o!!

Ever had any experience with them? I feel bad for it, but hearing the word "Korean" in relation to guitars gives me bad vibes!!!

The Korean ones are pretty good now matey, the Chinese ones are the ones to watch!

Only thing with the Tokai is the maple neck and nato body.  Epiphone uses local mahogany throughout so it's more "correct".....

Okay dokay,

I think my mate's Tokai LP is Korean actually and that's decent if I remember correctly.

Is this your epiphone:

Looks mighty fine.

EDIT: Here are a couple of the other options I'm looking at:

Gibson SG-X

Yep, limited run in late '05 early '06.

How about this special run Epiphone at Peter Cooks for £229?

Nice, is that colour Pelham Blue?

I used to have an SG Special in a similar colour, it was that "chameleon" paint so it looked green from some angles and blue from others.  Not one of the better SGs I've owned, though.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Yup the specials page, then I scroll down to the "recently sold" section, and there it is. Grumble.

I'm trying to find info on the site, but is Peter Cooks a shop you can go and visit/try things out or just an online store?

Thanks for the help so far!

EDIT: Philly- Pelham Blue is a fantastic colour, particularly on SGs. Can't really tell with all the sparkle on that Epi, but the 'true' paint colour may well be something near Pelham.

I'm stuck now. Brand new Epi? Second hand Gibson Special or SG-X? Tokai?

gaaah!!!

^Woops, I was talking about the 1965 Epi Vibrola (like yours) that was for sale there, not the blue sparkly Epi.

Misunderstanding there.

I think it's because I arrived at the site through a google link that was a bit out of date. Woops.
