Bah Humbug!

Although, if she's going to get ANY tele, a Tele like that is about as good as it's going to get (yay for Feline!). The headstock on that one is much nicer than the normal headstock, too.

It is that un-cutaway section that I dislike. The other thing I dislike is that annoying metal bit around the bridge pickup (and the angle bridge pickup itself). Just looks rubbish, to me. A bit irrational, really, but there you go, that's me :)

Oh well, at least it's not me buying it, otherwise I'd be branding myself as a purveyor of bum-fun!

I suppose I'm to blame for all this in the first place: if I hadn't mentioned how cr@p tele's look, she'd not have ended up seeing that picture, and wouldn't end up looking like a carpet muncher if she does decide to go with it!

:)

It's good to know that you see Teles as appealing to so many parts of the GLBT spectrum.

I think we should add a couple of Analogies to that infact!

But personally - I don't think Teles look wimpish at all, I just think they sound too twangy, and traditional - I don't like strats either though, or Les Pauls with Scratch plates.

For me, it's a curved quilt top Superstrat with either an OFR or a stop tail - ESP Horizon is pretty much my dream guitar.

Well, the latter could partake in the former with appropriate appendages, but I think I'm dragging us somewhat off track!!

If I were in her position (with looks being allegedly so important), I think I'd spend the 2 grand on a decent amp (hmmm, maybe a 5150-II ho ho ho) like a rivera knucklehead or maybe spider valve, and the remainder on a decent guitar, but not "too" decent, as she's not been playing long!

Don't forget to get some cables, too, something like these: cables

How about something like an Ibanez RGT320Q "Wet Rose"?  Ha ha!

But more seriously, there are plenty of guitars which we *could* suggest, but until she goes down to the shop to try out all sorts of different guitars (and in front of the mirror!), we're probably all way off target!

I would spend about 1300 on the guitar and the rest on an amp.

I recommend the Screamer for versatility - Really don't like the Spider Valve very much...

+1, I was put off geting one for ages because of the "indie band" image they seem to have become associated with, but then I just listen to Led Zep I and realise that they do more than that cr@p thin jangly indie tone :P

nice to see she's thinking of the feline, apmaman. :)

Actually i would get a decent amp first, the best guitar still sounds like sjeit trough a cr@ppy amp.

If it must be a guitar, i would go for a PRS or an older Gibson standard or even custom. They are simply a joy to play, hence the reccomendation.

Maybe a used standard from say the early 90's (which were very good) and a good orange amp, or laney amp? Would be doable and he will have a dream rig.
